Karma.

What goes around, comes around. A lot of us often use this phrase, but do we ever actu-

ally take a moment to sit and truly think into what it means? Basically, it sums up karma. Karma

has become such a popular term used now-a-days, as we throw around phrases such as “Oh well,

karma will take care of it!”. So, I wanted to really break down the true meaning and discuss how

we can actually use it in our favor!

Karma is based on thoughts and actions in every single moment. In Buddhism, karma is

an energy created by willful action through thoughts, words, actions and deeds. All of us are cre-

ating karma every second of our lives! Kind of scary, isn’t it? I know, but don’t worry just yet,

because we also can have “good karma”. Good karma is basically the reverse of negative karma!

A good action, intention and thought creates good karma. So to break it down even more, when

we talk about good karma and bad karma, we’re really talking about good actions and bad ac-

tions.

Many aren’t aware of this, but we can actually use karma as guiding force in our lives!

The best way to think of it is energy that you’re creating every single moment. Everything is en-

ergy, therefore, every intention, action or thought creates this energy that goes out into the world.

If you’re reacting with anger, doing things to purposely hurt someone, or even having bad

thoughts you’re basically telling the universe that this is what you will allow to take up your en-

ergy and this is what you will accept in life. The universe will simply give it back to you and cre-

ate more situations like this! The universe responds to the vibrations you send out. So, what we

put out is really just our karmic energy returning back to us. By living with mindfulness we can

be more aware of our thoughts, actions and intentions to steer clear of this karmic energy coming

back into our lives in a negative way! So, in order to keep karma on our good side, we need to

constantly use mindfulness to be aware of what is going on in our lives and understand why cer-

tain situations are happening to us. Everything around you is a mirror reflecting your inner

world. If you notice yourself constantly attracting toxic love, fake friends, horrible situations…

there’s something going on in your inner world that you need to recognize and work on. We truly

have so much power over our lives, and we forget this sometimes! Do good, and good will come

to you. Do bad, and trust me, it’ll find its way back. Whatever you put out there will always

make its way around at some point, that is something I believe for sure.

With all of this being said, make sure you are manifesting the kind of energy you would

actually want in your life…the types of situations you want to experience! I love to remind my-

self that how people treat you is their karma, how you react is yours. Just focus on the things that

you actually want in your life, and every time you catch yourself starting to doubt things or think

negatively— be mindful, snap yourself out of it and focus on the things you are grateful for.

There’s this quote I love to live by written by Walter Hagen, “You’re only here for a short visit.

Don’t hurry, don’t worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way.” I think this is a great

way to end my article and leave you all pondering about your life! Remember, you never know

when this ride will end, make sure you’re being mindful of attracting the right energy and situa-

tions that you would actually want to have into your life. You’ve got this!
