CORTESA HARRIS TO HOST RALLY AT GEORGIA


STATE CAPITOL ON JUNE 15 AT NOON***
What: Media is invited to cover rally at Georgia State Capitol addressing issues on racial
discrimination against pregnant black women in the healthcare industry. The event will be open
to the public from noon until 5 p.m. on Saturday June 15. 206 Washington St. SW Atlanta, GA

Speakers: Cortesa Harris, Founder of Mommy and Me: Advocating for Black Mommies,
Monica Simpson from Sistersong, Hillary Short Neonatal Nurse of Northside Hospital, Wanda
Irving mother of Sandra Irving.

Background: The U.S. is the most advanced country in the world for many things, but
somehow health care isn’t one of them. We still have women dying due to childbirth, black
women in particular. Black women are three times more likely to die of complications from
childbirth than white women.
Note: The speeches will be given throughout the day starting with the founders Cortesa Harris
and Monica Simpson at 12:45 p.m.

main corners of the event and must be set up by 9:30 a.m.
