Due to de high rate of employee’s absences, multinationals across the world are hiring
private investigators to follow its own employees while they are not at the office. As a
matter of fact, the court has indicated that hiring private investigator to find out
different issues is a completely legal practice. But it has to be taken into account two
controversial ideas that are being talked inside employees. On the side of the
employees, most of them are feeling distrusted by their supervisors and the company
which is creating an antagonist relationship between the two actors. On the other side,
for supervisors and companies it is clear that a large number of employees normally
abuse their seek benefit levels to use it as its personal time, so they do not trust their
reasons about being absence.

This practice is rising a feeling of distrust between the company and its employees.
Analyzing the situation as a CEO of any of this corporations its proper to begin
understanding the employee’s attitudes about being absence most of the time. Starting
from the Cognitive component, after employees got to know about the surveillance that
they are having outside from the office, they will feel untrusted by its supervisors and
dissatisfied by the job’s environment. At the end, the employees of the company will
low its performance while they are at work because “people seek consistency between
their attitudes and their behavior at work” (p.73).

In the same way, the company will have a lack of organizational commitment, because
due to the felling of distrust, employees will not be emotional attached, and it would
not be either any perception of organizational support. This environment will disturb
the relation between co-workers and supervisors affecting one of the main pillars of job
satisfaction.

As a reaction of every factor that has been explained it will be perceived a neglect
attitude ending up in a worse performance and a higher employee’s absence. This mood
inside the work environment can be passive and destructive affecting every function and
department of the company.

As a solution of this situation, as CEOs of the company we propose to settle a strict policy
about the absences to work being very specific about the punishment criteria. On the
other hand, the company will reconcile a trust agreement between the company and its
employees to guarantee a smooth work environment. Therefore, the performance
would get to be better and in the long run, it might create organization commitment,
job involvement and emotional attachment from the employees to the company.
