RYLEIGH KELLEY
WHAT IS TEXTURE?
Texture simply means how something feels when it is touched. If you touched a piece of marble, it might feel
smooth and cold. A piece of wood would feel rough. A piece of cloth or a tapestry might feel rough or smooth.
You will have the rest of class today to plan a landscape. Use pens, pencils, markers, and paint to create a landscape you
like. I will come by and talk to you, here are some things to think about while creating your landscape.
• What were some of your color choices and why did you pick them?
HOMEWORK: Please come to class with objects you can add to your landscape to create texture! Be creative!
Examples: Grass, string, leaves, toothpicks, old paintbrushes, etc.
ACTIVITY DAY 2
Today we will be working on our landscapes and applying texture to them! Use glue, tape, and other adhesives to apply
your textures to your piece.
Think about where the textures should be and how they interact with each other. I will be walking around to help you.
20 Min before class ends we will clean up and go around the room and say why we chose this landscape and why we
chose the textures we did.
HOMEWORK: Please come to class with three images of any landscape. Make sure to watch for copyright and use an
image that is rich with color. This will give you the best result.
