A Reaction Paper about the movie doubt

 “DOUBT”

Doubt is when you don’t trust that person even if he is such a good person. Doubt can deny
sorts of positive things including the good side of that certain person. We can’t get rid of doubt
since doubt will always be an option when we don’t trust. As much as we would like to trust
everyone that’s in our life, doubt will always be lurking around. It is not easy to trust specially if
that person has a bad history or a history that he can’t tell.

The movie “Doubt” actually made me realize a lot of things. During the past years I’ve experienced
a lot of people that are doubting me with no acceptable reason. Doubting is pretty much similar to
judging. Similar to judging, yes it is pretty much similar because even if you are not certain of the
truth about that person , you still somewhat think that that person is bad. Doubt is like poisoning
your brain, the way you think of things is poisoned.

The movie doubt is a about a sister in St. Nicholas School who was a having such with priest that
was assigned in St. Nicholas. At the very beginning of the movie , the priest’s sermon is about
doubt , but sister Aloysius took it very seriously that made her think of doubting father Flynn.
Right from the start Sister Aloysius already did have a doubt to Father Flynn with no acceptable
reason. While I was watching the movie, in the middle part I realized that if you doubt you want
to be unstoppable. When father Flynn asked sister Aloysius if what’s her reason of doubting him
and sister Aloysius only answered him with “ I saw you put your hand to the shoulders of William
London and he throw your hand away”. With that line, sister Aloysius is sure that she had no
acceptable reason but she keeps on doubting, because the permanent state of her mid is doubt itself.
At first I didn’t like the movie because i myself is guilty. Like sister Aloysius I also doubt those
people who are around me with no reason.

Sister Aloysius did something that is very awful. She lied just because of her doubt. Although
father Flynn is appointed In a higher level in the other school, sister Aloysius somewhat destroyed
the reputation of father Flynn just because of her doubt. A doubt that she knew it is wrong. There
are a lot of kinds of doubt. There are Positive doubts, negative doubts, real doubts and fictional
doubts. Sister Aloysius’s doubt towards father Flynn is a skeptical doubt. Sister Aloysius doubted
father Flynn with no acceptable reason, she just doubted him because she is certain with her doubt
but not with her reasons. Instead of her thinking the good side of father Flynn, she cant do it
anymore because the permanent state of her mind is doubt towards father Flynn. Sister Aloysius
started with a doubt and ends up with a doubt.
