Here at Lunar Pastries, we strive and are committed to providing a stable and safe work
environment. We strive to create not only the best pastries in town but to be the best employer as

HR Mission Statement
The mission of the human resources department is to support the goals and challenges of Lunar
Pastries by providing services that promote a work environment characterized by fair treatment
of staff, personal accountability, open communications, mutual trust, and mutual respect. We
embrace change and the opportunity it brings. We will seek and provide solutions to workplace
issues that support and optimize the principles of the Lunar Pastries. We are focused on
delivering quality customer service by committing to recruiting, training, developing, rewarding,
and retaining Lunar Pastries’ personnel.

Workplace Security
Lunar Pastries values safety and customer satisfaction. We are committed to safeguarding
employee security, the security of our properties and facilities, and the property of our customers
Lunar Pastries reserves the right to conduct workplace searches. Any time an employee enters or
leaves the facility, except at the start or end of a shift, requires supervisor approval.

Core Requirements:
 Lunar Pastries reserves the right to question and conduct personal searches of employees
and all other persons on any of its owned or operated properties/facilities.
 Lunar Pastries reserves the right to sear any desk, file, computer file, e-mail, telephone
voicemail, locker, cabinet, or other container provided to employees by the company
regardless of whether secured with a personal or company-issued lock or password.
 Lunar Pastries reserves the right to search any vehicle brought on to company property.
 All searches will be conducted in a respectful and professional manner.
 To avoid inconvenience, employees are encouraged to only bring necessary items to
work, and avoid bringing any items they would be unwilling to have searched upon
request by management.
 Refusal to submit to a search when requested to do so will result in disciplinary actions
and possible termination.

Employee Responsibility:

 Remain respectful and cooperate with security or management when searches are
requested or conducted.
 Obtain appropriate approvals to remove any property from the premises.
 Obtain appropriate approval if you need to leave the facility throughout a shift.
 Report any suspicious behavior or theft immediately to a supervisor, security, or
management.

Management Responsibility:

 Remain respectful.
 Support the company’s position by explaining to employees the reasoning and necessity
for conducting searches.
 Address any concerns about the search process.
Confidentiality and Data Protection
Lunar Pastries wants to ensure private information about our employees, clients, partners, and
the company is well-protected.

Examples of confidential information include:

 Employee records
 Customer lists (existing and prospective)
 Unpublished financial records
 Data of customers, partners, vendors

As part of Lunar Pastries’ hiring process, we will ask employees to sign non-compete and non-
disclosure agreements (NDAs). We are committed to:

 Restricting and monitoring access to sensitive data


 Establishing data protection practices (secure locks, access authorization, frequent
backups)
 Training employees in online privacy and security measures
 Building secure networks to protect online data from cyber attacks

Lunar Pastries expects employees to act responsibly when handling confidential information.

Employee Requirements:

 Lock or secure confidential information at all times


 View confidential information on secure devices only
 Shred confidential documents when they are no longer needed
 Only disclose information to other employees when necessary/authorized

Employee Restrictions:

 Cannot use confidential information for personal benefit or profit


 Cannot disclose confidential information to anyone outside of the company
 Cannot replicate confidential documents or files and store them on insecure devices

Employee Discount
The workers of the Lunar Pastries organization are entitled to an employee discount per
purchase. This discount is a privilege granted and must be handled as such. All goods to be
purchased must be approved by the manager or supervisor on hand.

First Year Discounts

 During the first year of employment, employees are entitled to purchase store goods with
a 15% discount. Goods available for purchase include:
o Baked goods
o Hot foods
o Coffees
o Specialty drinks (ie. smoothies etc.)

Experienced Discounts

 This discount qualifies for workers who have worked at the establishment for more than
one year. This is a privilege granted for loyal workers who give quality service and
uphold our standards.
 This discount offers 25% off of store goods. Goods available for purchase include:
o Baked goods
o Hot foods
o Coffees
o Specialty drinks (ie. smoothies etc.)
Exceptions to Discount Policy

 All staff and crew members have access to free fountain drinks during their work shift.
Employees must use lids and straws with their beverages to adhere to the work safety and
sanitation guidelines.
 Ingredients and working equipment are not to be bought by employees. These supplies
are strictly prohibited to be purchased or taken by the staff.
 Those who take food from the establishment without the consent of a manager will be
addressed properly. If further actions continue, the discount privileges will be taken away
from said body and may result in reduction of pay for that pay period to compensate for
those items. All other punishments will follow the guidelines.

Health and Safety


This business prides itself in its high standards and healthy atmosphere. To keep up these
standards, the management team are willing to assist and teach its employees to maintain these
regulations.

Sanitation Guidelines

 All employees are required to complete the Safety and Sanitation course and must submit
a certification of completion by their first day of work.
 All employees are expected to follow the sanitation procedures and maintain their
stations clean and clear of obstructions. Cleaning should be performed before, during,
and after food handling.

Safety Training

 Employees must undergo a minimum of one week training with a supervisor. At the end
of the weekly period, a safety test will be provided. Those who fail must take another
week of training until completion of understanding.

Health Benefits

 Workers are offered to apply and purchase health benefits under the company name
including but not limited to:
o Dental, Health Insurance, 401K Plan, Eyecare, etc.

Workers Compensation

 If an employee is injured on site or during the performance of a task for the


establishment, then Lunar Pastries will provide an estimated amount of payment for
severe injuries.
 Incidents must be reported within 24 hours. Failure to do so will result in delayed
payment or rejection altogether.
Personal Health

 Employees who are sick must bring in a doctor's note before coming back to work.

Discipline and Termination Policy


This establishment has a code of conduct that is strictly followed. Actions that pertain to the
question of ethics or irresponsible behavior in the workplace will result in consequences.
Employees will be granted warnings and opportunities to improve behavior before steps are
taken.

Warnings

 Employees will receive warnings and write ups before drastic measures are taken. Once
an employee has been given two written warnings, then the management board will
decide whether or not their actions will result in a temporary suspension or termination.
 The warning procedure are as follows:
o Verbal Warning
o Written Warning
o Second Written Warning
o Temporary Suspension
o Termination
 Management may take away company privileges such as discounts and free
drinks as a type of warning/discipline.

Grounds For Termination

 The management and human resources department are in their right to suspend or end
employment of staff who show signs of ill intention. Those who do not adhere to the
handbooks guidelines will receive prior warning. If further actions persist then they are in
grounds for termination.
 Theft of business property will be automatic grounds for termination.
 Proof of illegal activity on company grounds will result in automatic termination.
Sexual Harassment
Here at Lunar Pastries, we are committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment for
our employees. We will not tolerate any discrimination or sexual harassment towards another
employee. Lunar Pastries has zero tolerance for any act of discrimination and sexual harassment
in the workplace and will treat all incidents seriously along with an investigation of allegations.
If an employee is found of sexual harassment in the workplace will face disciplinary action or
expulsion of employment.

Definition of Sexual Harassment


Behavior displayed towards another that is unwelcome sexual conduct which makes a person
feel humiliated, offended, or intimidated. This includes situations where an employee may be
asked to engage in sexual activity that is unwelcomed to advance in positions or as a condition of
their employment.

Sexual harassment can be verbal, non-verbal, and physical. Sexual harassment can involve one
or more incidents. Behavior can include:

-Unwanted physical contact such as kissing, hugging, stroking, inappropriate touching,


and fondling
-The use of threats that are job-related or rewards for sexual activity.
-Physical violence, which includes sexual assault
-Sexual comments and advances
-Repeated and unwelcomed invitations for sexual activity
-Insults based on the sex of an employee
-Comments on an employees clothes, appearance, age, etc.
-Sending explicit messages through text, phone call, or email
-Sexual gestures
-Whistling
-Leering

Attendance and Time Off Policy


Regular and timely attendance is an expectation for all employees at Lunar Pastries. With a fast-
paced, customer demanding work environment, all employees will be held accountable for
adhering to their schedule.

Absent
 An employee is considered absent when he/she is unavailable for the shift he/she has
been scheduled and such time off was not approved in advance with a supervisor.
Tardy
 An employee is tardy when he/she:
o Fails to report to an assigned shift or scheduled shift. For these instances, a
manager may replace the employee for the shift.
o Leaves a work shift prior to the end of their assigned/scheduled shift without
preceding approval from a supervisor.
o Takes a longer meal or break period without preceding approval.

Time Clocks and Clocking In/Out


 Each employee is to submit their time for their daily shifts through Home Base, our
online time clock.
 Each week a supervisor must approve all shifts to ensure each shift is correct.
 Failure to adequately login assigned/schedule shifts and/or breaks will result in a
violation of policy.

Dress Code Policy


Lunar Pastry dress policy is in place to help provide a professional yet consistent look to
customers. Our dress code and our appearance reflects not only on yourself but on the company
as well. The overall goal is to maintain a consistent and positive appearance which will in no
way offend, customers, or clients.

Bakers, Kitchen Staff, and Front End Associates

 Employees are expected to wear a Lunar Pastry company T-shirt that is provided upon
hire. Bakers and front end workers are expected to wear any dark jeans with no holes.
 Employees are expected to wear closed-toed, non slip shoes to ensure protection.
 Kitchen Staff is to wear an apron at all times while handling food and making custom
orders.
 Front end associates are to wear aprons around the waist while working.

Owner/CEO, Advisors, Directors, and Assistants

 Employees are expected to wear smart casual attire.


o Smart casual attire would consist of a pair of nice slacks or jeans with a blouse or
button up shirt with formal shoes.
 On Fridays, employees are eligible to wear a Lunar Pastry shirt along with a pair of nice
jeans or dress business casual.
o Business casual is to be tasteful, but relaxed. Nice jeans and a T-shirt are
acceptable.

Dress Code Violations:

Supervisors are to inform employees when they do not meet the dress code. Employees in
violation are expected to correct the issue and to return back to work. This may include an
employee leaving and returning to work at a later time. If a repeated violation occurs an
employee will be written up which will result in disciplinary action.
Bakery Pickups
Lunar Pastries want to help ensure that all our pastry products get out of the store and on time to
their event. So these policies are in place to help customers get the best experience while picking
up their orders.
 Pickups must be done within our store hours, 9 am - 6 pm. If you need additional
time for large orders or if you need any other accommodations regarding the pick-
up time and or schedule, please feel free to talk to our General Manager when you
are placing the order.
 If you need any other accommodations regarding your order once it has already
been placed, you will need to speak with the General Manager regarding those
matters at least 48 hours prior to pickup time.
 If you are unhappy with the order, before you leave the store please bring it to our
attention so we can try to fix the matter. We will always try to ensure that all
orders are up to the customer's satisfaction.
 Once you leave the bakery with your order, we cannot help you solve your issues
outside of the store. All sales are final after this.

Shipping Policy
Here at Lunar Pastries, we want to help take the stress away. So if you have a special occasion
coming up that requires large orders with large deliveries, we are happy to travel to you! We will
ensure that all orders are great and ready by the time we arrive at your destination.

 We offer bakery deliveries up to 20 miles from our location in Tyler, TX.

 Deliveries are based on a first come first serve basis. So you will need to make
sure that there are open delivery time slots available when placing your order. If
you have any questions regarding delivery schedules please feel free to ask a store
associate.
 There is a delivery fee that is based on the order size and how far the delivery will
be. The starting fee is $30, but this can fluctuate based on the order. Please feel
free to ask our General Manager for more information on the delivery fee.
 A delivery fee will be added to be paid when putting down the deposit for your
order.
Cancellation Policy
We hold customer satisfaction very high here at Lunar Pastries so we always hope all our
customers are happy with their order but we understand things happen so we put in place this
cancellation policy.

 Lunar Bakery requires a 24-hour notice when canceling their order.

 A full refund will be given and refunded to the credit card used or it will be put in
a gift-card for in-store credit.
 No cash refunds will be given.

 A product that is not picked up at the time and date set by the store or customer
will not be refunded or be put up for in-store credit. If there is a problem
regarding the pickup time please look back at the Bakery Pick-up policies.

Reason Statement
Lunar Pastries does its best to keep the utmost quality and care in its work and in its workers.
These guidelines and regulations help maintain a safe work environment. Employees are
expected to adhere to these rules, but most importantly enjoy themselves responsibly at the
workplace. Here at Lunar Pastries we welcome anyone who embraces a fast pace work style and
embodies respect and good work ethic. In this organization we believe that it is our duty to work
with our staff to create a better working facility for a better working experience.
