Description of artifact/assignment:

My academic artifact is a solar suitcase. We built it in physics class. We made two

suitcases, we sent one to Africa to help power their buildings. The other we gave to the
Cloverdale Police Department.

Why did you choose this as one of your artifacts/assignments?

I chose this artifact because it’s the one thing in class that i’ve done that actually made a
difference somewhere.

What academic skills did you use that are specific to this artifact/assignment?

Academic skills that I used to complete this artifact was communication and self
discipline.

What general academic skills did you use (skills that would be used in any academic class)?

I used communication a lot during the process of making the suitcase. This was a key part
in the process because we had to talk about what objects we needed and what we already had.

Did you see growth in your targeted soft skills through the course of working on this
Artifact/Assignment? Explain.

I saw every soft skill that I have in this project. We, as a class, collaborated and worked
together to finish two solar suitcases.

Provide an example of how these academic and/or soft skills are used in a career in which you
are interested.
These soft skills are used in my career everyday because I want to work with people and I
need good communication skills in order to accomplish that.
