This is an aerial photo of Kansai Airport in Osaka. This image gave me a better

This article from Britannica gave me a better understanding of Osaka in comparison to
other major cities in Japan. In the article, Osaka was compared to Yokohama in
population and compared to Tokyo for economics. Additionally, the source talked about
population demographics and migration trends which is what I ended up using the source
for.

This is an article that talks about aerosol and how it affects Osaka's air quality. There
were several experiments conducted at Kinki University in Osaka studying the thickness
of aerosols in the air and ways that they are trying to cleanse the air. I used this article for
my environment tab on my website.

Seeing this picture promoting the G20 Summit in Osaka this year made me realize how
big this event is to the city and country.

Osaka is preparing to host the G20 Summit in June of 2019. This event is the
government's priority at the moment. I used this source for the government tab to give an
example of political priorities in the Osakan government.

Osaka’s Municipal subway website helped me learn about the history of Osaka's subway
system. Through this source, I discovered that over 2 million Osakans commute to the
city via subway making it the backbone of public transportation.

Lonely Planet gave me information on the characteristics of an Osakan and their values.
This source helps me discover a lot about Osaka's culture in the modern day. I learned
about the 24-hour eating culture and shopping streets with this source. I used it for the
culture characteristics page to talk about how the people of Osaka value cuisine.

New World Encyclopedia gave me information for three different tabs; public
transportation, culture, and population demographics and migration trends. The
encyclopedia gave information on Kansai Airport that is situated on an artificial island.
Additionally, the source talked about how many businesses have relocated to Tokyo and
how important shopping is to Osakan culture.

World Book gave me information for my migration tab, culture tab, and transportation
tab. For the migration tab, the source talked about how rapid population growth in the
city caused land and housing shortages which caused citizens to migrate to the suburbs to
escape the crowd. World Book gave an overview of the types of public transportation tab
and said that traffic is a severe issue in the city. For the culture tab, World Book talked
about Osaka Castle, museums and traditional japanese puppet theatre.

This is a picture of Osaka Business park which is where lots of business activity in the

This article from Britannica gave me information on the city's government structure,
Osaka is an urban prefecture with 13 towns and 31 cities. Also, the source talked about
how the city was destroyed in World War II so when it was rebuilt there was less
Japanese architecture and more westernized architecture. Thirdly, this article mentioned
that Osaka is home to many large banks and thrives in foreign trade.

Scholastic Go! helped me with information on trade for the economy tab. Additionally,
the source helped give background on the founding of the city. Osaka was founded by a
samurai lord in 1583 and in the 1600s became known as the pantry of Japan because of
their large food and resource options.
