Student Response Lesson
Student Response Lesson
Representation: The use of Kahoot! as formative assessment allows for multiple means of auditory and
visual representation to the pictures and text associated. Students must utilize their background
knowledge involving time determine the correct answer to the corresponding question.
Action and Expression: Kahoot! can be accessed on a multitude of electronic devices including laptops,
phones, and tablets. This option of an electronic form of assessment is a great option for students that
have difficulty writing and allows for the answer to be received by cursor selection or touch.
Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
Prior to the activity, students and I will model different time using individual plastic clocks. Each student
will provide a time, either by the hour or half-hours, and we will model the times using the model analog
clocks. Each time determined by the student will be present via the projector in a write word form and
numerical form. Students will be provide the layout of a digital clock on a dry erase board and using dry
erase markers will model the time selected as well.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☒ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☒ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☒ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):
During the Kahoot! Student will repeat the, “What time is it?” phrase for each question. The will determine
the time based on the picture provided of analog clocks and digital clocks. After each question we will review
the correct answer and why it is the correct answer. The teacher will discuss misconceptions made by the
students.
If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):
After the activity students will make their own analog clock. With a partner, they will take turns displaying
a time on their analog clock. The partner viewing the analog clock will write the time on a digital clock
worksheet and beneath it write the time using word formation. When the sheet is complete they will
switch roles.
Data collected from the Kahoot! Will be discussed as a class determining areas that the students are
struggling in. Students will have access to the game to practice outside of the classroom.
A personal learning goal for the students would be for them to recognize time either of digital or analog
clocks and understand the representation of the time in word form. By incorporating this skill into a game it
is my hope that students will be motivated and engaged in the learning process.

An extension of this lesson would be for students to collect images of analog and digital clocks in the real
world. For example Big Ben in London, the count down at Times Square, images from flight time information,
or a sports score board and have them find corresponding picture that match the time they selected and
create a collage. All images can be digital and created into an e-book.
