This document describes the procedure of creating an IBM LTO tape drive dump file with the Windows application ‘itdt’.

1. Prerequisites
- Please download the application ‘itdt’ from the FTS download portal*).
- Open a command line and extract the downloaded file by executing it.
- Stop all services concerning the backup software and the Windows service ‘Removable Storage’ if applicable.

2. Create the tape drive dump files

- start ‘itdt’

- Hint: After starting the application for the first time, it is necessary to read the license agreement and accept it.

- The ‘Entry Menu’ is displayed.

- Scan the system for available drives by entering ‘S’ (for ‘Scan for tape drives…’), followed by [ENTER].

- The device list should display the installed drive.

- Select the drive by entering the number of the drive (first row of the device list) and hit [ENTER].

In this example, drive ‘0’ is selected.

- The drive is being marked with an ‘X’…

…and is used for creating the tape drive dump file. Enter ‘D’ (for ‘Dump’) in order to continue.

- The tape drive dump file should be written on disk successfully.

- The files are located in the /output folder where ‘itdt’ was started.
