PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE OF THE

ROBOTICS
ESSAY AND EVIDENCE FOR THE UNIT 1

 The technology has existed from the first ages of the humanity, in that time,
an arrow or a wood fire was considered technology. The definition of technology also
has changed through the course of the humanity. Today the scientist discoveries
and multiple tools of high grade of engineering are considered technology, but how
was the way that the robotics appeared on our lives and how it has been developing
until our days and the future?

The story of the robots started only on the imagination of the people, to be
more specific on the imagination of Isaac Asimov, who used for the first time the
concept of robot on a sci-fiction novel.

At the first time, the use of the robots started replacing the humans on the
production lines, improving the accuracy and times of production, doing them more
efficient. One of the problems was the risk of the humans to work in the same area
of the robots, was unsafety and was needed a specific area for the production line
of the robots.

Now, the robots are present in more industrial fields than in the past,
representing a high labor force around the world. New rules and regulations came
to increase the efficiency and security. Robots can now work in the same areas of
the humans (under the regulation standards), in some cases, separated only by
fences and in another cases the robot can be manipulated by the human. Robots
can perform tasks in that the humans need to use the 2 hands. Now a robot can
support the object the human has free both hands to work in the object and using
image recognition. Then, they can identify when the object is ready to be moved to
the next stage of the production line.

In the industry, the robots make tasks like producing, and quality control,
based on the image recognition of how the product must be and, if doesn´t follow
the specifications, the same robot has the task to discard them, kicking out them
from the production line.

The future of robots is basing it from the domestic use and the business services as
seen on the hotels and receptions of multiple buildings and airports. The use of
Internet of Things on the robots is going to be a crucial piece on the puzzle of the
smart cities and the automatization of multiple aspects of the life. The robots are
going to live with us.

It is very interesting to study and review the story of the robots through the pass of
the time, starting at the imagination of a man who saw and predicted almost perfectly
how the future was going to be. Also, the comparing of the first prototypes and
models with a low characteristic with the robots that we have now. The future has
not a limit, the robots are going to be developed to be like humans. The laws and
ethic are the only limit for this infinite development.
 La tecnología ha existido desde las primeras eras de la humanidad, en esos
tiempos, una flecha o una fogata fueron considerados tecnología. La definición de
tecnología también ha cambiado a través del curso de la humanidad. Hoy, los
descubrimientos científicos y las múltiples herramientas de alto grado de ingeniería
son consideradas tecnología pero ¿Cómo fue el camino en el que los robots
aparecieron en nuestras vidas y como se han desarrollado hasta nuestros días y el
futuro?

La historia de los robots empezó solo en la imaginación de la gente, para ser

más específico en la imaginación de Isaac Asimov, quien usó por primera vez el
concepto de robot en una novela de ciencia ficción.

En los primeros momentos, el uso de los robots empezó reemplazando a los

humanos en las líneas de producción, mejorando la precisión y los tiempos de
producción, haciéndolos más eficientes. Uno de los problemas era el riesgo de los
humanos de trabajar en la misma área que los robots, era inseguro y era necesaria
un área específica para la línea de producción para los robots.

Ahora, los robots están presentes en más campos industriales que en el

pasado, representando una fuerte fuerza de trabajo alrededor del mundo. Nuevas
reglas y regulaciones llegan para incrementar la eficiencia y la seguridad. Los robots
ahora pueden trabajar en las mismas áreas que los humanos (bajo los estándares
de las regulaciones), en algunos casos solo separados por rejas y en otros, el robot
puede ser manipulado por el humano. Los robots pueden hacer tareas en las que
los humanos necesitan 2 manos. Ahora un robot puede cargar el objeto haciendo
que el humano tenga libres las 2 manos para trabajar y usando reconocimiento de
imagen. Entonces, los robots pueden identificar cuando el objeto está listo para ser
movido a la siguiente etapa de la línea de producción.

En la industria, los robots hacen tareas como producción, control de calidad

basado en reconocimiento de imagen de como el producto debe ser y, si este no
sigue las especificaciones, el mismo robot tiene la tarea de descartar el producto,
pateándolo fuera de la línea de producción.
 El futuro de los robots se está basando en el uso doméstico y el uso en los
servicios de negocios, como se ve en hoteles y recepciones de múltiples edificios y
aeropuertos. El uso del Internet of Things en los robots está siendo una pieza crucial
del rompecabezas de las ciudades inteligentes y la automatización de múltiples
aspectos de la vida. Los robots van a vivir con nosotros

Es muy interesante estudiar y revisar la historia de los robots a través del

paso del tiempo, empezando en la imaginación de un hombre que vio y predijo casi
perfectamente cómo iba a ser el futuro. También, la comparación de los primeros
prototipos y modelos con bajas características con los robots que ahora tenemos.
El futuro no tiene límite, los robots van a ser desarrollados para ser como humanos.
Las leyes y la ética son el único límite para este desarrollo infinito.
