Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

Students are able to create their board using videos in either English, Spanish or French. The videos also have
the option of using closed captioning. This is very beneficial to your students who are English Learners so they
are able to integrate some of their Native language into their board. Also, students who prefer to use
headphones or students who have an auditory impairment are able to use headphones and the closed
captioning. This program has so many options for students to use their voice and choice to represent the
topic they are focusing on the way you want to.
Lesson idea implementation:
This activity will take place at the end of a Unit after studying animals, their differences and traits. For this
specific project, each student will be able to focus on one animal of their choosing. They will use Discovery
Education website to research and investigate each animals’ features. The will need to find information about
the animal’s physical features, how and what they eat, and what type of animal it is. The videos, information
and/or pictures used are all chosen by the students.
During the creative process, the students will meet individually with the teacher for a student/teacher
conference at least 3 times before submitting the final project. The teacher will follow a rubric to access the
students making sure they are showcasing the animal’s features. The students will also have a day where they
show a “partner” their work and discuss the differenced of each animal. This will give the students an
opportunity to compare and contrast each other’s animals in depth. After they have completed their final
board, they will project it on the smart technology available in the classroom and talk about their animal to
the class.

Reflective Practice:
This activity will be at the end of a unit and students will be able to create their board over a several week
period. They will be able to research and get constant feedback, giving the students guiding learning. As an
