    MDIA1002 Tutorial Prep Task 2

    Social media platforms are consistently used for journalistic and public relations purposes by the media
    industries. In this exercise, you will research one of these platforms and locate the URL for a legitimate
    news organisation that uses the platform as a distribution point.
    Instructions
    Investigate any one of the following platforms and find a short news example from that platform and the
    organisation that it comes from.
    Upload a word document (make sure it is a standard word processing file (e.g. .doc, docx, .txt, .rtf
    file) NOT A PDF, ZIP OR PAGES FILE., by 5pm the day before your tutorial, which includes the
    following:

     Your name
     Your student znumber
     Your tutorial id (eg T11A, W13B etc)
     URL and Screen shot of the news item
     And your answers to the following questions (bullet points, brief sentences ok):
    1. What platform and news organisation did you identify?
    2. What topic was the news item covering?
    3. How would you describe the purpose of the news item?
    4. Who do you think the audience was?
    5. What news values (as discussed in the lecture and reading) do you think drove this item, and
    why?
    Also, bring a printed or digital copy to the tutorial, as we will discuss them further there.
