Why does government allocate budget to the NGOs? Discuss.

In Budget 2019, the government had located RM 10 million for NGOs that helped the

underprivileged. It’s because the underprivileged and neglected communities need the

support of government and any parties to improve themselves for better life. Sometimes

government could not provide and fulfil demand from all citizen, so NGOs is a medium of the

government to improve it. With the cooperation from the government, funding will not be a

problem for NGOs to carry out humanitarian or welfare programmes. The government will

identify suitable organisations to work with, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said during the

tabling of Budget 2019 in Parliament (Chu, 2018). Basically Budget 2019 has the theme,

which is “Credible Malaysia, Dynamic Economy, and Prosperous Rakyat”. This focusing on

institutional reformation, people’s wellbeing and the promotion of an entrepreneurial culture.

So it’s how that NGOs is important for the country to be better in the future, that why the

government had been allocated the budget for the NGOs.
