Lesson Plan
Introduction
This is a reading and writing lesson plan prepared by me to meet the theoretical to
lesson plan, 50 minutes of classroom teaching was conducted. The purpose of this course plan is
The topic of the class is an event in Fort Collins---the Spring Artisan Market. It was held from
4:00 to 4:50 in Eddy Hall with English as a Second Language (ESL) students. Furthermore, there
are 8-12 ESL students who want to develop their English reading and writing skills and language
abilities. These ESL students speak various L1s, such as Chinese, Spanish, Italian, etc. I believe

Warm up: Introduce an event in Fort Collins---the Spring Artisan Market (_5_ minutes)
Purpose: By introducing this event, students can learn some information about this event. Also,
Procedures: Before I introduce the event, I will have a short communication with students. For
example, “Do you know about the artisan market?” and “What do you know about artisan
markets?” Then, I will introduce some information about Spring Artisan Market like the date,
address and ticket prices and where to get tickets. Certainly, when I introduce the address, I will
show the picture of map that let students know exactly how to get to this place.

Transition: “Good! Some students have been to the artisan market. Would you like to know
Purpose: Let the students read the article aloud and actively in a group. Let students preview
new vocabulary.
Procedures: Before the students read the news article, I will introduce some new words by
describing the event and attach relevant pictures to help students understand the meaning of the
words. When the students are learning the new words, I will give them two to three minutes to
read the article individually or with their partners. Then, I'll invite four volunteers to read a

content of this activity, let's say whether you will attend the event.
Purpose: Let students apply structure “I will go to the spring artisan market because……” “I
will not go the spring market because……” to create a sentence. This activity will help students
Procedures: I will divide all the students into two groups, one group for girls and one for boys.
The girls' group will write reasons why they will go to the spring artisan market, and the boys'
group will write the reasons why they don’t want to go to the spring artisan market. Everyone in

Purpose: To ask some questions to let student reflect on today’s class, and let them share their
ideas. Then, I will also let students summarize what we've learned today and introduce the

Artisans of all kinds, including jewelers, woodworkers, and photographers, will showcase their
wares on April 14 for the annual Spring Artisan Market at the Fort Collins Senior Center (1200
Raintree Drive). The Spring Artisan Fair takes place from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and is free and open to
the public.
Spring is here and with it comes shopping for Mother’s Day, preparing garden beds, and getting
your home ready to host friends. The Senior Center welcomes artisans from around the country
with their handcrafted goods for sale to help you get ready for spring with something fresh and
new.
Additional artisans that will be represented at the Fair include Birds of a Feather Birdhouses,
Rebel Popcorn, and Dawn until Dusk, a crafter that uses goats’ milk to make soaps and lotions.
Jewelers, needle workers, photographers, sculptures, bakers, and others will make up the more
than 40 artisan vendors at the Fair. Artists will have their works available for sale.
