To Learn From a Tree

To learn from a tree, is to learn from the wise

It is to learn from the true ancestor of time

It is to hear stories of things gone and things to come

To know the cycle of night and the cycle of sun

To learn from a tree, is an honour

For he provides and comforts

His knowledge abounding and his speech astounding

To speak to a tree, one can learn something

“Trimmed, killed and burned to the floor,

For my brothers and sisters, I desired more.

Uprooted, polluted and ignored,

Certainly, not the thanks we’d hoped for.

But though we have been neglected by the human race

No one or nothing else can take our place.

In the shade we hide and radiate our love

Hoping, praying to do better than the others”.
