Compose a parallel period (a.) and a contrasting period (b.). Compose one of the periods in major and the
other in minor (with the leading tone). Mark each cadence at the end of the phrase, stating whether it is HC,
PAC or IAC. Both periods should be two phrases (4 + 4) and end on a PAC. Write a melody in the right hand
and a simple piano accompaniment in the left hand. DO NOT write SATB voicing and use keys other than C
major or A minor. Analyze the harmonies using roman numerals and inversion numbers, and label all NCTs in
the melody.
