Universal Design for Learning (UDL): This activity is introduced using an audio file which is useful for students
who struggle with reading or have visual impairments that prevent them from reading. For those with
auditory impairments there is also a transcript available.

Lesson idea implementation: This is a flipped classroom activity so it will be introduced on the classroom blog
for students to listen to/read about over the weekend. They will be asked to go around their house and
collect any coins they can find. Then they will have to add up how much money they found and write it down
in their math notebook to bring to class on Monday. When they come back to school, we will share how much
money everyone found, and add up how much we found altogether as a class. Then we will take this amount
and see how we can make it using different types of coins.

Importance of technology: Having a classroom blog allows students and their parents to see what
assignments are required for them to do at home. It is an easy one place location that anything important can
be communicated to families. It is also helpful as it gets families more involved with their children’s learning.
Inspiration (optional): N/A

Internet Safety and Student Privacy: You do have to be careful when using a classroom blog as you need to
keep outside viewers from being able to get any private information on your students and your school. A
precaution you can take to prevent this is to make your blog private, and you have to invite viewers to join.
Another option is you can make pages’ password protected so that only those who you give the password to
can access them.
Reflective Practice: I think this activity was meaningful because it was a real-life activity outside of the
classroom. It showed them money is in our day to da life and the importance of being able to know how to
add it and how to make change and everything like that.
