Technology in Math Classroom

Storyboard
By Anh Chau
Title/Captions: How can technology help with math
learning?

Narration: If you are a math teacher, have you ever

wondered what could be the best way to engage your least
impressed or most passive students? My answer is if you
want to bring math to their lives, use technology first.

How can technology help with math learning?

Title/Captions: Background for Topic Introduction

Narration: Students today apparently enjoy anything

and everything that is related to technology, and they
could not live their daily lives without thinking about it.
Their use of technology is one of the things that sets
them apart from previous generations. It is no
exaggeration to say that they cannot imagine a world
without technology, so it is only natural that students
expect to have access to technology in every classroom,
including mathematics.

Mathematics classrooms must reflect this reality and teachers must offer
opportunities which students can use technology.
Title/Captions: The definition of using technology

Narration: What they are trying to say is that

technology must be used to enhance students’ learning
of important mathematics and their ability to make
sense of the learned concepts. If teachers use
technology properly, it can provide them with lots of
opportunities for instruction in math classrooms.

Title/Captions: The definition of using technology

Narration: Both educators and learners can promote

the learning process and make concepts alive through
engaging and interactive media. They may also offer
additional resources to address the needs and interest
of all learners and create customized learning
experiences.

Title/Captions: Examples of using technology

Narration: Here are some important ways that students

can benefit when teachers include technology in their
math instruction. These tools altogether offer an
interactive environment where students can examine
and visualize multiple representations of functions,
symbolic expressions, numerical data, and graphs.

Title/Captions: Examples of using technology

Narration: Another example is that teachers can bring

videos, animations, interesting movies and other media
into the learning process to help our students develop
skills and understandings. It clearly can help to motivate
and excite our students about their learning.

Title/Captions: Examples of using technology

Narration: Technology can also provide individual

students with content and supports that are particularly
helpful to their individual needs. if one student is still
confused on a topic, and another is ready for additional
challenges, technology can enable each to take the
appropriate next step.

How do we intergrate technology in math instruction?

Title/Captions: Technology is only effective when using with appropriate teaching strategies
with careful plan and purpose

Narration: Technological tools truly support student development of a deep understanding of

mathematical relationships and mathematical structure. They allow them to focus more on
conceptual knowledge and problem solving.
Finally, however, it is critical to note that these are just tools only to support teaching and
learning. Mathematics classrooms should not be places where technology is used simply just
for fun or to please students. The bottom line is that effective teaching is about engaging
students with mathematical tasks in ways that help them develop a deep understanding of
mathematical concepts.
