Health psychology

Health psychology is the study of psychological and behavioral processes in health, illness, and
healthcare.[1] It is concerned with understanding how psychological, behavioral, and cultural factors
contribute to physical health and illness. Psychological factors can affect health directly.

2. Health behavior

Health behaviors have been defined in various ways. For example, Conner
and Norman (1996) define them as any activity undertaken for the purpose of
preventing or detecting disease or for improving health and well being.
Gochman ( 1997) in the Handbook of Health Behavior Researchdefines them
as `behavior patterns, actions and habits that relate to health maintenance, to
health restoration and to health improvement
3. Unhealthy behavior
It is a behavior that puts you at risk for a bad consequence. It is behavior that is against local
mores. It is usually behavior you have been told not to engage in yet choose to anyway.
