STANDARDS: 8.4.12.A - Evaluate the role groups and individuals played in the social, political,
cultural and economic development throughout world history
8.4.6.A – Explain the social, political, cultural and economic contributions of individuals and
groups to world history.
THEME: For students to understand the cause and outcome of the Temperance movement
OBJECTIVES:
Language:
Cause and effect and prohibition, the lesson will target all four language domains
(Reading, Writing, Speaking and listening)
Content:
Students will list the cause and effect of the temperance movement.
MOTIVATION:
(Building background)
Ask students what they know about prohibition before and ask if they have ever disagreed with a
rule.
PRESENTATION:
(Language and content objectives, comprehensible input, strategies, interaction, feedback)
(Procedure) The teacher will present the lesson to the students through a powerpoint and then
the class will work on primary readings relating the temperance movement to their local areas.
EXTENSION:
How to extend students knowledge or a plan B for extra time.
