Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

Engagement: Students will engage by using the classroom blog to further their learning about a topic discuss
in class. Blogs are easy to access because they can be used on any device that would like to be used. This can
be assessible to all students and the teacher can allow students who aren’t able to access the blog at home to
come in the morning and explore the blog in the classroom.
Representation: Blogs are a great place for the students to be able to experience a flipped classroom. The
flipped classroom is beneficial to all students, but especially our ELL students and students with disabilities. The
flipped classroom will allow students to work at their own pace and can review the content as many times as
they need to.
Action and Expression: In the flipped classroom, students have the opportunity to go through material at their
own pace and as many times as needed. They will have the choice to choose what sites they would like to use
and which one they feel comfortable using. Some sites can be easier to use then others.

Lesson idea implementation: I will introduce the lesson by talking to students about the class blogs. I will go
through all content they can find in the blog and how they can be part of the classroom blogs. I will have a
video on the home page on how and where to find information in the blog. Students can go home and show
their parents the blog and they can look around together to see what the blog offers. The students will visit
the flipped classroom page and go through the content on the page to get a glimpse of what we will be
learning in the classroom next week.

Importance of technology: Website-creation tools are great to use for this project because of the teacher has
the ability regulate what the students and parents see. The teachers can make posts for students to review at
home. The website will give students the opportunity to review the content in the flipped classroom to
prepare for the upcoming week in the classroom.
Internet Safety and Student Privacy: When using any kind of technology that has access to the internet it is
important to take into consideration the privacy of the students. The students will be using the internet to

access the blog and its important to make sure parents are going through the blog with their child every week
and not allow them to do it on their own. Students may wonder off and visit other sites that may not
appropriate for them. Also, when posting comments to the blogs parents need to be mindful of their child’s
information.
Reflective Practice: The flipped classroom will provide guidance for parents and students on topics that will
be covered in the classroom in the coming up week. This will allow students to see what the lesson will be
about and can ask their parents if they would like to do some research on the topic before we cover it in class.
This also gives parents guidance on how to help their students with homework and keep them inform on
what their child is learning about in the classroom.
