50-DAY WAR (8th July – 31st August)

Operation Cast Lead (2008):

-10 month war

-Israel launched a full scale military assault on the Gaza strip.

-This resulted in the massacre of children and civilians.

-However, the exact number of the people who dies still remains unknown.

-Official pretext for the operation given by Israel and narrated unquestionably by U.S media
was that ‘Israel had to respond and in their response they claimed that it was in self-defence.’

-U.S military gave support to Israel crimes and supported them financially by giving them $3
Billion every year.

-The Jewish population in U.S.A is less than 6 billion (2 percent of the population), but they
have shared values and shared interests.

Operation Protective Edge (2014) (8th July-31st August)

-50 day war

- Israel launches Operation Protective Edge with air strikes on Gaza to counter rocket fire
from Palestinian militants. Hamas responds by firing rockets at Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

-The number of civilians killed during Israel's Operation Protective Edge offensive has raised
international concern and condemnation.

-Between 8 July and 27 August, more than 2,100 Palestinians were killed in the Gaza Strip,
along with 66 Israeli soldiers and seven civilians in Israel.

-The UN says the vast majority of Palestinian deaths are civilian. But figures from previous
operations over the past six years in the densely populated Gaza Strip show it is not the first
time civilians have paid a heavy price.

-Israel was criticised for using the so-called "knock on the roof" method - warning people of
impending airstrikes by launching a non-explosive missile before the main strike. Some
airstrikes have occurred less than a minute later.

-Israel was also criticized by U.N for bombing a U.N sponsored school.

-Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also ordered that all the tunnels constructed from Gaza
to Israel by the Hamas to be destroyed.
