PART - 1 GENERAL
1.03 STANDARDS:
Unless otherwise approved, applicable standards are as follows, in order of priority:
A. EN81 and BS5655: parts 1 to 12 – safety rules for the construction and installation of
electric lifts.
B. ANSI/ASME A17.1 - Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators.
1.09 SUBMITTALS
A. Submit under provisions of Division.1
B. Shop Drawings: Indicate the following information:
1. Car, counterweight, sheaves, machine and sheave beams, guide rails, buffers,
ropes, and other components in hoistway.
2. Rail bracket spacing, maximum loads imposed on guide rails requiring load
transfer to building structural framing.
3. Individual weight of principal components, load reaction at points of support.
4. Loads on hoisting beams and location of trolley beams
5. Clearances and over travel of car and counter weight
6. Location of components.
7. Locations in hoistway of traveling cables and connections for car light and
telephone
8. Location and sizes of access doors, doors, and frames
9. Expected heat dissipation of elevator equipment.
10. Interface with building management system.
11. Electrical characteristics and connection requirements.
12. Show arrangement of equipment so rotating elements, sheaves, and other

equipment can be removed for repairs or replaced without disturbing other
components. Arrange equipment for clear passage through access door.
13. Complete power and control wiring diagrams.
C. Product Data:Provide data on the following, items:
1. Signal and operating fixtures, operating panels indicators.
2. Cab design,dimensions, layout, and components.
3. Cab and hoistway door and frame details.
4. Electrical characteristics and connection requirements.
D. Samples: Submit Samples, illustrating cab floor material, cab interior finishes, cab and
hoistway door and frame finishes.
1.12 QUALIFICATIONS
A. Manufacturer: Company specializing in manufacturing the Products specified in this
section with minimum ten years documented experience.
B. Installer: local Company specializing in performing the work of this section approved
by elevator equipment manufacturer with minimum five years documented experience,
fully qualified staff should be presented for Owner approval.
1.16 WARRANTY
A. Provide Five year manufacture's warranty under provisions of Division.1
B. Warranty: Include coverage for elevator operating equipment and devices.
C. Obtain Lioyd's Inspection Certificate and submit to Owner.

2.02 MATERIALS
A. Rolled Steel Sections, Shapes, Rods: ASTM A36
B. Sheet Steel: ASTM A366 Class (1) with matte finish. ASTM A446 Grade (B) zinc
coated to (G90)
C. Stainless Steel: ASTM A167 Type (304) No. (4) finish.
D. Aluminum: ASTM B221, extruded.
E. Plywood: APA Structural I, Grade (C-D) sanded.
F. Plastic Laminate: NEMA LD3, type, color/pattern and matte surface finish.

Control system principle

Topmost floor
The operating elements for maintenance of the lift and for
possible emergency release are fitted in the maintenance
access panel at the top stop. As the operating elements are
locked away, they can only be activated by authorised
personnel.
Maintenance access panel Access to the operating elements must be guaranteed at all
times during the lift's operating periods. The maintenance
access panel is fitted directly to the shaft door floor frame.
The surface of the maintenance and emergency release
panel is specified in zinc-coated sheet steel, prepared for
final painting on site.

PART - 3 EXECUTION
3.01 EXAMINATION
A. Verify that hoistway, pit, and machine room are ready for work of this section.
B. Verify hoistway shaft and openings are of correct size and within tolerance.
C. Verify location and size of machine foundation and position of machine foundation
bolts.
D. Verify that electrical power is available and of the correct characteristics.
3.02 PREPARATION
A. Arrange for temporary electrical power for installation work and testing of elevator
components.
3.03 INSTALLATION
A. Install in accordance with ANSI/ASME A17.1.
B. Install system components. Connect equipment to building Utilities.
3.04 TOLERANCES
A. Guide Rail Alignment:
Plumb and parallel to each other 3 mm in accordance with ANSI/ASME A17.1 and
ANSI/ASME A17.2.
B. Cab Movement on Aligned guide Rails:
Smooth movement, with no objectionable lateral or oscillating movement or vibration.
3.07 ADJUSTING
A. Adjust for smooth acceleration and deceleration of car so not to cause passenger
discomfort.
B. Adjust automatic floor leveling feature at each floor to achieve 6 mm from flush.
3.08 CLEANING
A. Clean work under provisions of Division. 1.
B. Remove protective coverings from finished surfaces.
C. Clean surfaces and components ready for inspection.
