God said to Moshe and Aharon: This is the law of the Pesah-offering: No foreigner may eat of it…
48
If a resident-alien shall reside with you, and he shall make a Pesah-offering to God, he shall
circumcise every male and then he is permitted to draw near to make it; then he will be like the
native born. But any uncircumcised man may not eat of it.

Kaf HaHayyim OH 166:140, R. Ya’akov Hayyim Sofer, Iraq/Eretz Yisrael, 19th—20th c.
And I heard a terrible story that happened in the days of R. Moshe Hayyim, the grandfather of R.
Yosef Hayyim [the Ben Ish Hai]. A Jew invited a Gentile neighbor over for Pesah and fed him
matzah at his table and then related this to R. Moshe Hayyim. He told the man that he should
beware this man that year, for he might cause him significant damage. Indeed, one day, the Jew
was sitting and the Gentile game with a drawn sword. Only because of a miracle did he manage to
run away.

Shemot 12:16
On the first day [of Pesah], it shall be a proclaimed holy day, and on the seventh day, a proclaimed
holy day shall it be for you. No labor shall be performed on them, save for that which shall be fed
to each nefesh, that alone shall be performed for you.

And since it is the case that, among all the enlightened nations who have recognized the great
value of the Biblical light—which is entirely anchored in the manifestation of the Divine Presence
through this evening’s unique event of the Exodus—the British people have a particularly heartfelt
and intense connection to it, I consider it an immense pleasure and honor that sons of the British
people are sitting at my table in the holy city of Jerusalem on this significant evening.
The guests received the speech with great joy and sustained and uproarious applause.
A erwards, Mr. Storrs got up and answered with a speech of his own, which began with gratitude
to the Rabbi and his family on behalf of himself and his guests for the honor that had been
bestowed upon them. He said that this event—to sit at the table of the Chief Rabbi in Jerusalem
on the night of the Seder was, for them as well, a historic event that they would long remember.
And that the lo y words they had heard from the Chief Rabbi with respect to the substance of this
evening stirred up intense feelings of honor and that we are all united with the anticipation that
“The Law will go forth from Zion and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem” with the purpose of
advancing all of mankind.

Devarim 6:20-25
20
When, in time to come, your children ask you, “What mean the decrees, laws, and rules that the
LORD our God has enjoined upon you?” 21you shall say to your children, “We were slaves to
Pharaoh in Egypt and the LORD freed us from Egypt with a mighty hand. 22The LORD wrought
before our eyes marvelous and destructive signs and portents in Egypt, against Pharaoh and all
his household; 23and us He freed from there, that He might take us and give us the land that He
had promised on oath to our fathers. 24Then the LORD commanded us to observe all these laws,
to revere the LORD our God, for our lasting good and for our survival, as is now the case. 25It will
be therefore to our merit before the LORD our God to observe faithfully this whole Instruction, as
He has commanded us.”
