Does the patient have documented maternal risk NEUROLOGIC: convulsions, drowsy or unconscious, decreased
factors like one of the following? activity, bulging fontanel
History of UTI last semester RESPIRATORY: respiratory rate >60 breaths/min, grunting, sever
Membranes ruptured >18h before delivery chest indrawing, central cyanosis
Fever >38C before delivery or during labor CARDIAC: poor perfusion, rapid and weak pulse
Foul-smelling or purulent amniotic fluid GI jaundice, poor feeding, abdominal distention
DERMA: skin pustules, periumbilical erythema or purulence
MSK edema or erythema overlying bones or joints
OTHER: Temperature >37.7°C (99.9°F; or feels hot) or
POTENTIALLY SEPTIC NEONATE
<35.5°C (95.9°F; or feels cold)
WITH or WITHOUT
Oxacillin OR Vancomycin
If asymptomatic and
blood cultures are
negative after48-
72hrs
Discontinue antibiotics
