Aims:
1.to set interest in the topic by eliciting various adjectives and matching the
opposite adjectives
2.to listen for specific information
3.to practice the sequence of adjectives
4. to practice comprehension of adjectives using picture dictation

Teaching techniques​: individual work, conversation, listening, brainstorming,


speaking, group work
Skills: ​reading, speaking, writing, listening
Materials​: whiteboard, textbook, handouts, Internet

Starting the lesson 5​ min


Teacher greets the students, asks if there is someone missing and checks
homework.

Objective 1: time: 10 minutes

Anticipated problems: ss may be reluctant to speak; ss may not know all the
meaning of the adjectives from the handout; T gives explanations, translation and
examples
Correction techniques: T-S, S-S
Activity:
T writes a series of adjectives on the whiteboard and asks ss what do they describe
( color, size, quality, age, opinion, shape); afterwards the ss are given a handout
and asked to solve the following exercise: “Match the opposites”
T sets time limit: 2 min and checks the exercise.

Objective 2: time: 10 minutes

Anticipated problems: ss may not understand the dialogue at first; T plays it for the
second time if necesaary;
Correction techniques: T-S, S-S
Activity:
T sets the next task, listening for specific information. Ss receive a handout with
the following exercise: „​Listen to two students talking about the teachers at their
college. Match the teacher’s names to the photos.”
T plays the tape. If needed, T plays it one more time, so that the ss understand
everything better.

Objective 3: time: 10 minutes

Anticipated problems: ss may not know the sequence of adjective; T gives further
explanations and examples

Activity:
T writes an example of sequence of adjective on the whiteboard and analyse it
together with the ss
„a beautiful red dress”
-after setting the general rule for this grammar item, T gives handouts with the
following exercises in order to practice it
Exercise 1: „In some of the sentences below the adjectives are in the wrong order.
Put a cross next to any sentences which are incorrect and write the correct
version”. (ex. 3, handout 1)
Exercise 2: „Number the adjectives in the correct order and rewrite the sentences in
your notebook” (ex.4, handout 1)
Exercise 3: „Put the adjectives in brackets in the correct order to complete the
sentences. Then decide which city in the box the speaker is talking about”.

Anticipated problems: ss may not understand exactly what the other colleagues are
diactating; ss may be reluctant to this exercise; T gives further explanations and
examples

Activity:
T asks 2 ss to go to the blackboard;two other ss will dictate a picture so that the
other two ss draw it on the whiteboard; meanwhile, the rest of the class do the
same thing, draw what they hear in their notebooks.
In the end, they all compare the result with the T`s original picture.

T gives feedbeck and sets homework from the tetxbook. (ex. 7 page 63)
