ABSTRACT
Conserving energy has become the biggest issue in present scenario. Due to the development
and modernization the electricity demand is increasing at high extent. To fulfil this demand
globally which is without any harmful effect on environment is possible by using gravity power
generation. The reason behind generating power by using gravity is that it is available all over
the earth. Comparing to the other sources like chemical, thermal and other sources gravity is
weak, is scalable.

As gravity is weak as compared to the other sources, it cannot be efficiently converted into
electrical energy or in the other form. The concept of gravity power generation is simple. The
basic concept of gravity power generation mechanism is, when a body moves down from higher
altitude to lower one its potential energy is converted into kinetic energy. This motion is
converted into circular motion and that circular motion is converted into electricity.

INTRODUCTION
Approximately 1/3 of the World's population is off-grid (having no access to mains power).
This situation is not set to change in the near future, according to the World Bank and the World
Health Organization, and is identified as a major obstacle to the proliferation of education, and
recognized as a limiting factor for growth in developing economies.

Now a days due to the effects of pollution and global warming there is a need for generating
power from renewable sources. Energy demand is increasing day by day with rapid growth in
industrialization as well as modernization. But the energy resources are gradually decreasing
at high extent. Within a few years the energy resources will be finished and hence there will be
lack of fuel (coal, wood, water, etc.) for power generation. The other renewable sources such
as solar, wind, biomass etc are available only for a particular duration of time during the day
and night.

All this method used to produce electricity, have their own limitations and energy can be
grasped only in a specific quantity and only for some extent. Therefore, there is vital need for
having a source which would generate power overcoming these limitations.

Gravity is one such source which can serve our purpose. Due to the availability of gravity all
over the earth, abundant and consistent it is very suitable to generating power by using gravity.
Therefore, the gravity power generation is one of the methods to generate power which fulfil
energy demands and requirements of present time.

Gravitational force is force that attracts any object with mass. The primary objective is to
provide a gravity power generation mechanism which can continuously convert gravity
potential energy into kinetic energy. This motion is converted into circular motion and is then
converted into electricity using a generator.

Thus, in our project we are mainly concerned with study of power generation using a technique
which produces power from gravity force. Gravity engine is a free energy generator that
apparently harnesses power of gravity and use it to make mechanical work.

LITERATURE SURVEY

The motion of celestial bodies such as a moon, the earth, the planets etc. has been a subject of
great interest for a long time. Famous Indian Astronomer and mathematician, this motion and
wrote his conclusion. About a thousand years after Aryabhata, the brilliant combination of
Tycho Brahe [1546-1601] and Johanaase Kepler [1571-1630] studied the planetary motion in
great detail. They all came to point that there must be a force responsible for such a motion.

The year 1665 was very fruitful as a question strike before Sir Issac Newton, that what is the
force that produces this acceleration? Thus, this force that pulls objects toward center of the
earth was found out and proved, to be named as, Gravitational force. Various mechanisms are
further developed to utilize this gravitational force for producing required power.

Maximo Gomez-Nacer have designed a system of obtaining electricity by means of use of the
force of gravity, by incorporating pendulums whose weight and velocity provide energy for
electricity generation.

Chun-chao Wang and Yuh-suiang Wang has successfully invented the concept of gravity
power generation mechanism.

In his concept, more simplified mechanism is used for the generation of the electricity. The
primary objective of his invention is to provide gravity power generation mechanism which
can provide a continuous and stable operation to continuously convert the gravity potential
energy into the kinetic energy and then to convert the kinetic energy into electrical energy, so
as to perform a long time, effective and stable energy output.

Russian Inventor, Mikhail Dmitriev to know about his gravity motor. He has apparently
devised a mechanism whereby static gravitational pull can be harness to generate useful
energy. He has worked for many years developing and testing gravity powered devices and he
has been very successful in his work. His various designs is based on the principle of having
weights attached to a wheel and arranging for those weights to be offset outwards
when falling and offset inwards when rising. Because of the different lever arms involved,
that gives a force imbalance which causes the wheel to rotate continuously and if the weights
are of a considerable size, then the rotation is powerful and can be used to generate electrical
energy.

6
METHODOLOGY
The apparatus consists of crank and pin arrangement bearing variable loads and supporting
stand. The arrangement of pulley in such a way that diameter of upper pulley is large as
compared to the bottom pulley and these two pulleys are aligned in a vertical plane. Variable
loads are mounted on the belt and this belt is mounted on two variable pulleys by using nut
and bolt.
For the generation of electricity the Mini DC generator is used which is connected to the
flywheel through pinion and this flywheel is attached to the bottom pulley.
The arrangement requires some initial force to rotate the variable loads in circular motion,
after that it will works on gravitational force in which the loads from the higher altitude are
fall down due to the gravitational energy and hence the lower loads are pulled up due to the
movement of upper load and hence the chain will continue for some duration.

The arrangement utilizes a gravity energy conversion unit to convert the gravity potential
energy into the kinetic energy.
The gravity energy conversion unit produces positive torques by adopting outward spreading
single direction swing arms and reduces the negative torques by cooperating with the folding
action of the single directional swing arms, so as to perform a long time, effective and
continuous energy conversion of converting gravity potential energy into kineticenergy.
Next, the kinetic energy will be transmitted to a power generating unit to perform another
energy conversion of converting the kinetic energy into the electrical energy. And finally, a
power supply system is used to transmit the electric energy out.

Free fall of any weight would take seconds to reach ground for a height of fall, say 2 meters.
With our device we are creating a high resisting torque using Ac synchronous motor which
makes the suspended weight, difficult to descend down rapidly. We apply the weight at the
sprocket end which is attached to a shaft on which a larger diameter wheel is fixed. And the
wheel is connected to a smaller pulley using a V -Belt which in turn is connected to the motor.
Because of the gear ratio small rotation in sprocket end makes the pulley turn faster which in
turn runs a synchronous motor to produce uninterrupted electricity.

7
Input energy is muscle power. An average person can lift weights up to 10 kg with ease. Hence,
our product is designed keeping weight factor in mind. In scoping out likely performance, some
further numbers were needed next to important parameters. For these, a lift height of 8 feet was
set (2.5m), as this is achievable by an adult with arms raised above their head, and a drop time
target of 15 minutes between lifts (charges) was set. These parameters were important in
allowing us to estimate the potential power output of the system and to calculate the efficiencies
that would need to be achieved.

PROJECT WORK DETAIL

PRINCIPLE
This machine is based on a simple principle that is, when an object is placed on a higher level
from ground then due to the gravitational force it experiences a pull towards the lower level
and gains kinetic energy, this can be utilized in a précised manner in which it can be transferred
into electrical energy using motor.

DESIGN AND FABRICATION

With three main aspects defined: LED(s) as the light source, an AC synchronous motor as the
generator, and the storage of input energy in potential form, the requirement for a highly
efficient and low-cost belt drive is indeed confirmed, as the AC motor would require a high
torque and low speed input drive, and the raised weight must descend slowly in order for a
charge to last for the target duration.

The main Components used in project are

1. Synchronous motor
2. Sprockets
3. Gears
4. Pulley
5. Stand
6. Belts
7. LED bulb
8. Falling mass
9. Bicycle wheel

9
1) AC Synchronous Motor
Synchronous motor (SM) uses permanent magnet embedded in the steel rotor to create
a constant magnet field. The stator windin gconnected to AC supply to produce
a rotating magnetic field. The Motor is a synchronous motor, may be use as free energy
generator.

2) Sprocket
Sprockets are used to transfer rotary motion between two shafts where gears are
unsuitable or to impart linear motion to a track.

3) Gears
There are different types of gear like spur gear, rack and pinion, internal ring gear,
helical gear. Spur gears are most commonly type of gear used. Tooth contact is
primary rolling, with sliding occurring during engagement and disengagement.

4) Stand
It is a non-attractive material to bolster the generator and the electric circuit get
together. At the focal point of the supporting edge pendulum is connected.

10
5) Pulley
Pulleys are utilized as a part of an assortment of approaches to lift loads, apply
compels, and to transmit control. In nautical settings, the get together rof wheel, hub,
and supporting shell is alluded to as a “piece”. A pulley may likewise be known as as
heave or drum and may have a depression between two ribs around its outlines. A
wooden pulley is utilized to transmit control. It has a high co-effective of grinding.

6) Belts
The belts are used to transfer torque through wedging action. It avoids slippery
movements and alignment problem.

7) Led Bulb
LED Bulb emits the visible light. LED bulbs are more environmental –friendlier
alternative to incandescent bulbs.

11
8) Bicycle wheel
A bicycle wheel is a wheel, most commonly a wire wheel, designed for a bicycle.
Bicycle wheels are typically designed to fit into the frame and fork via drop outs, and
hold bicycle tires. A typical modern wheel has a metal hub, wire tension spokes and a
metal or carbon fibre rim which holds a pneumatic rubber tire.

12
WORKING
The device is designed in such a way that when a weight, which is in the form of the ballast
bag is applied to an end of the larger wheel, which is basically the bicycle wheel, due to the
natural force of gravity, the load that is connected via a belt will start to move. This movement
due to gravity will result in the motion of the larger wheel, causing it to rotate. This rotation
of the bicycle wheel, the belt will transmit this rotation onto a smaller pulley, which has the
synchronous motor fitted to it.
The rotation of the synchronous motor is what will ultimately cause the LED to light. However,
this synchronous motor rotates with a low circular velocity. It is typically of the order of 3.5-5
rpm. The main aim behind this design is to make sure that the weight gets displaced towards
the ground as slowly as possible which means that we have to ensure that this displacement
takes as long as possible. However, for a continuous supply of light from the LED, it is essential
that the weights must be moving continuously and should cause the generator to rotate fast
enough. Even though the small wheel is turning slowly, the outer edge of the bicycle wheel is
turning fast enough to ensure that the LED is continuously emitting light. The motor's
functioning is such that, if the shaft of the motor is turned manually, the motor acts like a
generator and will produce power. A number of gears are inside this motor. This is what causes
the slow turning of the shaft to result in the magnets turning very fast, and producing 0sufficient
power. Therefore, it is beneficial to the wheel system and the motor that this conversion from
slow to fast occurs.

CONCLUSION

The gravity power generation mechanism of the present invention utilizes a gravity energy
conversion unit to which can provide a continuous and stable operation to continuously convert
the gravity potential energy into the kinetic energy and then into electric energy so as to perform
a long-time, effective and stable energy output. The present invention not only can
independently generate electricity but can be parallel connected to the Wind power and the
solar power generation systems to generate electricity. Thus, in this paper we studied a power
generation mechanism.

That produces power from gravity having a simplified structure as well as is Eco friendly and
which would overcome the present problems of pollution and global warming faced by other
power generation methods.
