Hand Tool Project – Stool

1. Secure your lumber


2. Cut 1”x 8” to 12”. This will be used for your top.
3. Round the appropriate corners.
4. Cut 1” x 4” to two 10” pieces. These will be the supports.
5. Cut 1” x 6” to two 8” lengths. These will be the legs.
a. Cut the curves in the legs.
6. Sand all pieces thoroughly.

Assembling Stool
1. Measure out and drill appropriate shank holes and pilot holes to attach the
top, legs and the braces.

You may consider finishing (staining or painting) your


pieces now rather than after the chair is assembled.
2. Wood glue the braces to the legs. Be careful to keep them flat for the top
to sit on.
3. Attach with screws
4. Wood glue the top to the base and attach with screws.
5. Sand off excess glue
6. Touch up paint/stain where needed.
