Chakra and Their Scientific Basis
Chakra and Their Scientific Basis
Chakra and Their Scientific Basis
The chakras are each closely connected with certain nervous plexuses and with their corresponding internal
organs.
Test 1 Disease susceptibility- Group 1 showed the highest susceptibility to disease, group 2 the second highest,
and Group 3 the lowest.
scientific inference This result suggests that in comparison to Group 3, Groups 1 and 2 are more susceptible to
functional troubles in those internal organs connected with the chakras greater instability in those organs.
Test 2 GSR (galvanic skin response) –before stimulation Group 1 showed the highest GSR and after stimulation
Groups1 and 2 showed smaller GSR current than Group3 for such organs as the
heart, stomach and urogenital organs.
scientific inference Group 1 showed both the highest sympathetic activity before stimulation and the strongest
parasympathetic reaction to external stimuli which means yogi with active chakras has greater range of
autonomic nervous activities than ordinary persons.
Test 3 Plethysmograph in normal people it shows almost constant amplitudes with very slight base-line
fluctuation. However, in yogis shows a periodic wavy fluctuation of the base line.
scientific inference This shows a wider range of balance between sympathetic and parasympathetic systems in
yogis.
JALA NETI
CASE 1
Inflammation removes from sinuses (purification of ida nad pingala nadis movement of prana freely through
them)
Sinusitis rhinitis and various cough and cold related symptoms get subsided
CASE 2
Clears excess mucous from Eustachian tubes which drains in throat running down from middle ear which have
mucosal lining
Throat infection gets removed, unequal pressure from ears gets even out hence good for swimmer’s ear and
related infections.
CASE 3
Precautions: do with extra care when tendency of nose bleeding and existing excessive cough or cold
symptoms.
KUNJAL
Removes excess mucous and bile and food remnants from upper alimentary canal
Movement of prana and activation of physical cardiac plexus i.e. seat of anahata chakra
Regulated secretion of digestive juices and reactivation of dysfunctional cough reflex mechanism
Precautions: don’t do if have gone under recent surgery, high blood pressure and peptic ulcer.
SHANKHA PRAKSHALAN
Five asanas, each asana opens different sections of alimentary canals, stretches, massages and increases intra-
abdominal pressure
This master cleansing process clears entire alimentary canal from mouth to anus
Removes excess of hydrochloric acid, mucous, bile, food remnants and toxins
Why
Energy expenditure will be less, maintenance phase will be longer, nervous activity will be minimum, no undue
pressure or tension on joints and muscles, less injury chances
Greater Parasympathetic dominance greater range of autonomic nervous activities hence chakra stimulation
