Oceaneering Plant Inspector

Description of job role - a typical day in the life


e.g. The Inspection of registered equipment such as;
pressure systems including process and storage
vessels, pressure equipment protective devices,
inspection of storage tanks, inspection of steam
generating plant and associated ancillary equipment
and decommissioned/out of service equipment in
compliance with Oceaneering and Client procedures
within the limitations of the Oceaneering issued Letter
of Authority (LoA).

Overview Description
Develop Written Schemes of Examination (WSE) as
part of the inspection process.

Complete First Pass examinations of equipment to


accurately identify preparation for inspection and Non
Destructive Examination (NDE) requirements. This is
to be recorded in the form of a Workpack.

Plan and carry out scheduled inspections of registered


equipment in compliance with the intent of the
approved WSE.

Carry out Repair Order close out inspections when


required.

Inform the Senior Inspection Engineer, without delay,


when any inspected equipment or NDE results
indicate the item is Not Fit For Service.

Complete the inspection report including


recommended or required actions as soon as
practicable following the inspection.

Modify or update the Written Scheme of examination


based on inspection findings using the PM manager.
Review and endorse NDT reports in a timely manner
and instigate Inspection Queries as required.

Verify the application of NDT methods for inspection


activities, inform NDE personnel of requirements.
Specify NDE techniques, where necessary maximise
the use of non-invasive inspection techniques.

Technical skills required Essential:

Qualifications ESSENTIAL
Category 3. Engineering Technician as defined by
Engineering Council or equivalent (eg appropriate
ONC with relevant experience, NVQ Level III) having
experience within a relevant discipline of which at
least one year shall have been spent working within
an engineering discipline associated with the in
service inspection of pressure systems

DESIRABLE
Category 2. Incorporated Engineer as defined by
Engineering Council or equivalent (eg appropriate
HNC with relevant experience, NVQ Level IV
Engineering) including experience within a relevant
engineering discipline of which at least one year shall
have been spent working within an engineering
discipline associated with in-service inspection of
pressure systems.

Salary band £70,000 - £80,000
