A farm stay (or farmstay) is any type of accommodation on a working farm.

Some farm stays

may be interactive. Some are family-focused, offering children opportunities to feed animals,
collect eggs and learn how a farm functions. Others don't allow children and instead offer a
peaceful retreat for adults. For the accommodations, guests normally pay rates similar to area
bed & breakfasts or vacation rentals, although pricing varies considerably. The term "farm stay"
can also describe a work exchange agreement, where the guest works a set number of hours per
week in exchange for free or affordable accommodation.
Possible farm stay accommodations include

 Cabins
 Cottages
 Converted barns/outbuildings
 Farmhouse guest rooms
 Platform tents
 Tent camping
 Yurts
Farm stays can be described as agritourism (a farmer opening his/her farm to tourists for any
reason, including farm stands and u-pick[1]), ecotourism (Responsible travel to natural areas that
conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local people[2]),
and geotourism (tourism that sustains or enhances the geographical character of a place—its
environment, culture, aesthetics, heritage, and the well-being of its residents[3]).

Lodging or a holiday accommodation is a type of residential accommodation. People

who travel and stay away from house for more than a day need lodging for sleep,
rest, food, safety, shelter from cold temperatures or rain, storage of luggage and access to
common household functions.[1]
Lodgings may be self-catering, in which case no food is provided, but cooking facilities are
available.[2]
Lodging is done in a hotel, motel, hostel or hostal, a private home (commercial, i.e. a bed and
breakfast, a guest house, a vacation rental, or non-commercially, with members of hospitality
services or in the home of friends), in a tent, caravan/camper (often on a campsite).

A package tour, package vacation, or package

holiday comprises transport and accommodation advertised and sold together by a vendor
known as a tour operator. Other services may be provided such a rental car, activities or outings
during the holiday. Transport can be via charter airline to a foreign country, and may also include
travel between areas as part of the holiday. Package holidays are a form of product bundling.
Package holidays are organised by a tour operator and sold to a consumer by a travel agent.
Some travel agents are employees of tour operators, others are independent.

A tour guide (U.S.) or a tourist guide (European) is a person who provides assistance,
information on cultural, historical and contemporary heritage to people on organized tours and
individual clients at educational establishments, religious and historical sites, museums, and at
venues of other significant interest.[1]
