Endangered Animal Species

Orangutan
By Nadira
The orangutan lives in North Sumatra in Indonesia, its population are around 41,000 in
Borneo and 7,500 in Sumatra. Orangutan lives in the lowlands forest. There used to be
more than 230,000 orangutans in total, but the Bornean orangutan decreased t o around
45,000 to 69,000 and the Sumatran are around 7,500 they are critically endangered. Many
people cut down the trees in the forest, which makes it harder for Orangutan to find its
shelter. Not only that, but the climate change may lead the rainforest on large forest fires.
Orangutans also got killed for their bush meats and medicines by people in Borneo and
Sumatra. To save Orangutan people have to cut less trees in the forest and stop killing
orangutans.
