Investigation Table
- Invite families into the classroom, bring
in photos of baptism. The children match
the baby photo to the student.
- ‘I am unique fingerprint’, children create
fingerprint and write underneath why
they are unique.
Dramatic Play
- The children play the ‘circle game’. They
form two circles and rotate till the music
stops to describe something special.
- Children listen to the song ‘God loves

about all the special people in their lives.

- Children choose a pop stick out of
the jar with class names on it and
say something special about each
other.
- Tell the story ‘ Jesus and the
children’ [Mark 10:13-16].

Learning Centre Plan
Collage
- Using magazines, children find
pictures to create a collage of
people using their specialness.
- Shiny foil art, students use colours
that represent themselves and
explain why they have chosen
those colours.
Painting
- Children paint a self portrait of
themselves.
- Children choose a colour to create their
own handprint.
- The children paint how people show
their specialness as Jesus did.

- Read the story ‘Koala Lou’ by Mem Fox.
- Read the story ‘Elmar’ by David McKee
discussing how differences make people
special.
- Read the story ‘The Snail and the
Whale’ by Julia Donaldson discussing
being different is not a bad thing.
- ‘Giraffe’s Can’t Dance’ by Giles Andreae
and discuss individuality makes people
happy.
Drawing/ writing Centre
- Children describe what is special about
them underneath their self portrait
painted earlier.
- Children create ‘God loves me poster’.
- Draw a picture of the story “The
children’s friend’ and draw and describe
pictures.
Sand and water play
- Children discuss how water plays a role
in baptism.
- The importance of water in a baptism
and why it is used.
- Children may invite families in to discuss
what happened at their baptism and how
water was used and the meaning behind
it.
Natural environment
- Children hang pictures of their baptism
off tree branches outside (teacher will
laminate).
- Plant seedlings outside and observe
changes. Watching the seedlings grow
and discuss how nature is special.
- Compare to themselves growing and the
differences/ similarities. 

Investigation
- Look at changes of the seedlings
planted into the natural environment and
write, take photos of changes that occur.
- The children write a prayer about their
family and friends thanking God for
making them unique and special.
Creative play
- Using natural materials (sticks,
leaves, rocks, pasta, string etc) to
create students face.
- Nature face templates for students
to use natural materials to place on
an outline face template.
Outdoor Play Plan
Dramatic play
- Children as a group, all hold a side
of the parachute. As they lift the
parachute a child runs under the
parachute and call out another
students name and say what is
special about them. That student
then has a turn and it repeats.
Mat play
- “All about me bucket”, children write
words on various pop sticks and put in
their bucket. The others have to guess
which bucket matches to their friends.
- The children role play in the playground
how to show kindness and love to
others.
Art and craft table
- ‘All about me’ sunflower, children place
their name in the middle with a
photograph. They then write about why
they are special on each petal.
- ‘My fingerprint’ activity involves children
putting their fingers in paint and then
onto the hand template. They use a
magnifying glass to see their individual
finger print.
Children’s interests
- Half an image of all students are put on
the lawn. The children are to use paper
and pencils to draw the other half of their
face.
- Students lay down on butchers paper
and others draw and outline around the
child, they write inside the outline of all
the special things about the student.
Physical
- Children play games outside
that promote sharing, taking
turns and showing kindness.
- Children take the kites outside
that the children have made in a
previous activity, they let them
fly in the wind.
- The educator plays different
styles of music and the children
move depending on how it
makes them feel. They may
describe how Jesus might have
felt whilst listening to the music.
