NARRATIVE REPORT
EARTHQUAKE DRILL

In line with the campaign of the Department of Education in equipping the school
children with the knowledge, proper attitude and skills on what to do in case of natural disaster
like earthquake, Buri Elementary School conducted an earthquake drill in the school campus last
November 8, 2018. Ma’am Genena G. Medilo spearheaded the activity together with the
teachers. This activity aims to ensure the safety of the school occupants during and after
earthquake and to train pupils and faculty members on how to practice proper action and
response during earthquake.
The pupils together with the teachers participated in the evacuation procedure. Thus, they
did their best to portray their roles especially the proper action and response during earthquakes.
Teachers should be the last to go out of the classroom to ensure that all occupants of the room
are evacuated. Ma’am Genina Medilo, the School DRRM Coordinator, said that pupils must stay
calm in case there is an occurrence of earthquake.
The drill was carried out smoothly. Before the conduct of the earthquake drill, Ma’am
Medilo instructed all the pupils and teachers on what to do in case of disaster like an earthquake.
Everybody in their respective classes ducked and covered themselves under their armchairs and
tables. After that, the teachers led their advisory classes in heading to the designated evacuation
area located in front of the school flag pole. They were grouped together according to the class
where they belong. Then, the classroom adviser did a headcount to make sure that all pupils are
accounted for.
In summary, the drill was successfully implemented and nobody was injured because the
routines were systematic and everybody was cooperative during the activity.
