PLANNED RITUAL

Celebrating our Specialness

Seating: Students are seated in a semi-circle on floor and the row behind on chairs.
Seating: Parents are seated on chairs in semi-circle facing the students
Father will lead the liturgy, students will take part in reading, prayers and song.
Student artwork from previous lessons to be displayed and used in liturgy
Liturgical Colour: Green

Gather: We are reminded why we gather, and in whose name we gather; the theme is introduced. – I am special
Acknowledgement of country
Gathering Song Let the Children Come - M Brown Everyone sing
Students procession into classroom holding their art work
Opening Prayer God has Given (A1.1) Father
Introduction Today we come together to thank God who loves us and has created Father
each one of us different and special

Scripture Mark 10:13-16 (from unit of work)


We know that God loves us and thinks we are special. Jesus taught Father
this when he welcomed children and showed them that he wanted to
be with them.
Response Students in 5 groups to sing and act out
I am special (from unit of work) A1 verses and congregation to sing
responses.
Reflection Each one of us is different from each other person. Take some time Students hold up their pictures while
now to think about how you are special. listening to quiet music while reflecting.
You might like to say a spontaneous prayer of thanks to God for
making you special
Play quiet music for reflection
Closing Prayer & Song Children and parents are invited to stand in the circle place their left Everyone
hand on the shoulder of the person beside them and say the words:
God loves you, you are special”
The children then sing “the Blessing of Jesus” from Celebrating Our
Journey by M Brown
