Pre-production and film conventions

Before we started the pre-production stage, we did an idea mind map where we had to come up
with three different films that we could base our short film off and pick what genre we would want
to do. We did this by creating a large mind map as a group and came up with three different ideas of
different genres. The reason why we did this was so we can have a clear idea of what genre we
wanted to do and deciding which genres is best for our group.
From this mind map we decided to choose the horror film genre. The reason why we chose this
genre was because we researched in detail what a conventional horror film looks like. This was our
task for A.4. Our idea has changed from the original mind map as we didn’t like the originally idea we
had and found it was too hard to film with the budget that we have so we changed the idea of are
short film. Also, we thought that the horror film is an easy genre to convey to the audience that the
genre by jump scares and the conventional horror themes. We used a jump scare when the
antagonist picked up the camera, this was a jump scare as the audience were unsure who the
character was as they hadn’t seen him before. Also, because we have looked at the film Friday the
13th and this is the film that we are basing our short film off we decide to make the film a
horror/slasher film, also a slasher film is a subgenre of a horror film and we decide it would a good
subgenre to use because it makes the horror film scarier for the audience. We made a thriller clear to
the audience through using long takes when we edited to build tension and through our story when
the audience were unsure what was happening which is used in thrillers.
The idea that me and my group made was a horror/slasher film, the reason why we wanted to do
this is because we all love the horror genre and we are all huge fans of movies like Friday the 13 Th
and don’t breathe. Our idea is clearly a horror film as the location looks like an abandoned house
which gives the idea of isolation. Also, we used a murder weapon like a saw and makeup like fake
blood to show that it is a horror film, because in a horror film they use weapons and blood to show
that someone has died, this goes with a conventional horror film because when watching horror
films they use blood to show death. This always occurs in a horror film because people are scared of
death and the sight of blood, also in horror films they use props like saws and hatchet as a murder
weapon, the reason for this is because it isn’t meant to be used to harm or kill people but the fact
the killer uses it to kill their victims is scarier than using a knife. Therefore, we are planning on using a
saw because it isn’t meant to be used as a weapon which makes the horror film fit the genre because
over horror films do the same. We took this on board and used a saw as the murder weapon, so the
audience know it is a horror film by the weapons and props we are using and how this relates to
death which is in most horror films. Finally, we have a slasher antagonist that wants to kill the people
that enter house, this normally happens in a horror film to build tensions and scare the audience.
The reason why we done this is because it fits the genre and is a convention in a horror film.
For our film we wanted to show that it is clearly a horror film as we used props that are often used in
horror films. Before deciding these props, we had to create an equipment list. A prop that we used
was a saw which is in my equipment list. We used this prop at the end of our film at the end of our
short film because when my character dies. This was done to show that there has been a murder
which fits with horror films and the prop was useful because we didn’t have to buy a saw as we were
lent this from my parents. We also used fake blood that we did have to pay for. The fake blood was
used at the end of the film when my character died. It was used to shows the audience clearly that
he had been murdered in a violent.
We used a mask a horror mask in are short film, the reason for this is because we had to show the
antagonist as a scary character so we used a chucky mask, the reason why we choose to use a chucky
mask because chucky is a film where a baby doll comes to life and haunts people, this film is really
scare so when people see the chucky mask this will make it a lot more scarier because they know the
what the mask is and this will scary the audience. Finally this is clearly a horror convention as most of
the antagonist played in a horror film wear a mask, this creates a mysterious meaning and makes the
horror films scarier because you cant see what is under the mask so makes the audience worry more
about the antagonist because you cant see it face. This is the reason why we used a mask in are short
film because the audience don’t see the killer.
When we decided that we were going to do a horror film we had to decide what location we were
going to film in. The reason for this is because we wanted somewhere to fit the horror genre based
on films that we have already seen. We hoped for our location to be scary and mysterious because
we found from our research that horrors mainly use either forest or abounded houses. We decided
to film at my house and make it looked abandoned as it fits with the genre of a horror film perfectly. I
feel that the location fits the genre and the mood of the film as most horror films are filmed in one
place to make it quite scary like Saw and houses are often used as it is meant to be a cosy place so
makes you feel on edge as it creates a creep atmosphere.
Pre-production is so important, so it doesn’t take months making a film without a clear idea and
genre. It helped us organise our film properly, so we knew what to do when it came to film.
Movies like Friday the 13th and Saw have helped us create our short film by using some of the ideas
from the films and conventional horror films ideas to help us show our short film as a horror film.
The idea of our short film is that a young teenage boy wants to take his friends to an abandoned
house to film a YouTube video, so we can get 1000 of views. The group arrive at the house and end
up splitting with the main character Lewis. They finally meet again in the house but a murderer who
lives at the house ended Lewis’ life. The reason why I made a Lewis the character that dies is because
normally the argent character in a horror normally dies first or does die, the reason why I did this is
so that it fits the horror genre because other films that we have looked at have an arrogant individual
of the group in a horror film dies first because of how arrogant he is. This fits with a conventional
horror because when basing is short film from the movie Friday the 13 th for example the character
Jack played by Kevin Bacon is a jock who was one of the first to die who tries to kill the antagonist
first. This is why we made my character ‘Lewis’ arrogant and overly confident. This is why he left the
group to explore to seem cocky to the group.
The genre of my film is a horror/slasher film. The reason why because we wanted to have a slasher
villain in the house to scare and shock the viewers. Also we had the idea that we had a little kid that
had originally visited the abounded house and was killed in the house, we made this clear to the
audience because we made a newspaper article in the pre-production stage and used it as a prop to
add context and meaning to film why it was and that the group went into the abounded house, the
reason why this fits the slasher subgenre is because in a conventional horror film they normally have
the slasher kill an innocent bystander that either went into the antagonist house or has something
else to do in the short film.
When filming our short film, we will use different camera shots to create effect and meaning by the
way the camera is positioned. We wanted our audience to feel on edge which is why we used shots
like extreme close shots and POV shots which are commonly used in a horror film. These shots make
the audience feel closer to the characters and restrict them from what you see around them which
makes it scarier for the audience. The reason why these shots were also used in a horror film is
because they show the effects when certain events take place in a horror film on a characters faces,
directors use this so the audience can picture what has gone on in the film or the emotion that the
characters are going through when certain events take place. We used props in the short film, the
props we used in our short film is fake blood, a saw, torch and a scary mask, the reason why we used
these props because a horror film is meant to be scary so we used a scary mask so the audience feel
like they are on the edge of their seats, this makes the movie more enjoyable because people like the
tension and jump scares in a conventional horror film. We have used editing to help create effects in
our short film, we have added non-diegetic sound to are short film to add tension, in horror films
they use non-diegetic sound to build tension, the reason for this is because horror films use music to
sow build tensions and prepare the audience for certain events because the audience knows when
there is a jump scare so it makes it scarier. The lighting we are going to use will be low key and high
key in certain areas to draw the attention of the audience to a certain point of the scene because of
the events that’s going to happen and the reason why we used low key lighting in the house because
it’s a horror film and this goes with a conventional horror film. We used high key lighting when the
characters are in a familiar location like the school when they are sitting around the desk. This shows
they are comfortable and safe which is often used in horror films.
The tasks that I did in the pre-production stage will help me with my short film because we have to
plan it all out, we have made different documents to help us while we film and help us create the
idea of our short film, we made a script, storyboards, risk assessment, etc. The reason for this is so
when it comes to filming; we knew what to do when we get to the production stage because of the
storyboard and script. The script and storyboard helped us because when we came to film, we knew
exactly what to say and what scene we needed to film so the filming process would be easier. Also,
this helped us understand what it means for a large organisation or company to film a movie and all
the pre-production phase that they must go through to create a film and how the phase help them
when filming. Finally the tasks that I did in the pre-production will help me when filming because I
know what to do when filming my short film and this will help me because I planned out how many
scenes I can film on certain days, this is also why we create a production schedule so we can plan
what scenes we are going to film and wen, also while in the pre-production stage I could re-draft my
idea by just changing the script and the storyboard, also with the storyboard I could see how it would
look visually because it will hopefully be similar to the real thing when I film. With the storyboard I
could see if I know what location I want to film in.
The storyboard was important when in the pre-production because it will help me when filming, the
reason why it will help because I can see how the shots and scenes are going to look and see if we
needed to change the idea of our short film or the shot that we were going to use so it looked like a
horror film. Also, with the storyboard I could describe what was happening in the shot/scene, so
when it came to filming we could see what we had to do when filming and what ideas we created to
put in our short film and this will make the filming process quick and easy. The Location recce will
help me because it was an essential part of the preparation and when researching different
processes to meet potential contributors and assess locations that will be in our short film. The
reason why we will assess most of the locations was to see what locations we needed to film in order
to ensure that our location fitted the storyline and the plot of the film, to ensure that it looked like an
abounded house because we will film at my house. Also, this will helped us see what location we
filmed in and at what time because if we didn’t make this document we would be stuck when filming
and lose precious time that we have with our actors and this will then delay our short film if we did
do this. The Risk assessment that I made for our group, it has help us because we will look at all of
the risks that might happen when filming at the different locations that we did in are short film, if we
didn’t do this in the pre-production stage we would have had legal affairs that would make us lose
are right to film because if I haven’t looked at the risks that could occur at the locations and did a risk
assessment on the equipment and props and someone got hurt while filming and we as a group
didn’t tried to prevent it or try and stop the event from happening or minimizing the risk we would
be in a lot of trouble and this would of then lead to us not having a short film. Finally, if I do this, I
can warn the crew and actors of the events that might happen when filming and if I do this and
someone gets hurt it isn’t my fault.
The Equipment list that I have made gives a full detailed list in what we had when filming my short
film, the equipment list is important because we needed to see what we needed for our film and if
we needed to buy the equipment at the time. Finally, I can use the equipment list to see when I need
to use the equipment for certain scene and what location I need the equipment in. The Production
schedule that I have made will helped me when I was filming because I knew which locations I filmed
in and we filmed in. Also, the production schedule that I have made will help tell the cast and crew
when we are filming and at what time, so this is there important because the +actors would know
when to film because I would give them a copy so they know when they are filming at what specific
time and place.
The tasks that I did in the pre-production stage have helped with my production of my short film
because when it came to film, I know what I had to do with each scene because we made a
storyboard. The storyboard was the most beneficial piece of documentation in the pre-production
stage because when we made the storyboard we could see how the film will look to make the filming
stage as quick as possible as we all knew what to film. We then took this when we filmed our short
film, when Sam filmed us he had this in front of him so he could see what shots we needed when.
This made the filming very quick and efficient for us all as we knew what was needed to have done.
We re-filmed twice after our filming stage but it was not due to our storyboard and needing more
shots, it was due to lacking of time as we all had different work schedules and so it was hard to get
everyone together at the same.
Also, the reason why we made a storyboard is because all of the production companies that make
films usually use a storyboard to help them see how it is going to look before filming and if they don’t
like the idea or what is going on in the storyboard or what they can change on the storyboard
because they make a new one, so this is why we made a storyboard to look at our idea and how it is
going to plan out while filming. After our storyboard we created an animated storyboard. We did
this using storyboardthat.com and print screened our storyboard. This was done after so we can see
better what the film should look like as it is animated. We did this as a group so we can talk through
it together for when we go to film, we know what is needed to be done in the right order. This was
really helpful for when we filmed as we all knew what was expected. We looked back at the
storyboard after the first filming session to see what was needed to be done for the next time we
filmed.
Finally the script has helped me with my short film because the actors in my film knew what to say in
certain scenes and they also knew what facial expressions or tone they needed to use for that certain
scene because it’s a horror film we need are actors to react to different scenes. We spoke through
this with them before the filming day so they could practice their lines before and knew how we
wanted them to be read. We also took one copy with us on the filming day to go over their lines if
they forgot it and with the storyboard it helped us when we filmed, knowing what to film and when.
The reason why we added this was because all of the actors needed to make it seem like a horror
film by the events going on so they needed to sound believable. Finally, we did this so that it builds
more tension for the audience because if the characters did react in a way which they would if
someone died the film isn’t believable and this makes the film worse.
Finally with the pre-production stage I wished that I planned or asked someone to be a backup actor,
the reason for this is because I need another actor because one of my actors dropped out last minute
and I wished I thought about casting a new person or new actor for the role. The character that
needed to be replaced was one of the female characters. It was important to have two girls in the
film to make it more fitting with horror as usually there are female characters too in a group.
Unfortunately this took time to find a new actor and caused delay to some of the filming sessions.
From this we had to move dates around so that everyone including actors and the crew can be at the
filming sessions. Luckily we resolved this by asking another girl from our BTEC Media class to be in
our film as she had been in an A Level film already.
Production
The production of my short film went well because when in pre-production stage we made various
documents that helped us when filming, theses helped us because we knew what to do when it
came to film, so it went quickly and smoothly when filming scene by scene. When filming we always
had the same idea throughout when we were filming this helped us because this means that we
didn’t have to change it, and this helped us film it a lot quick than expected. Finally, the production
of the film went well because we finished earlier than expected because when we were filming it
went very quickly and made filming the scenes easily with our deadlines put into order.
New skills that I learnt when filming my short film was that I learnt how different perspectives of the
characters help the audience get a better picture or angle of the film, so they understand what is go
on in the scene and what different characters see. We did this by following the groups perspective,
mainly my character to make the audience feel uneasy when I disappear. This keeps them on edge as
they don’t know what is happening/ Also, when filming I now understand all the problems that can
go wrong and how it could affect our schedule. For example how an actor dropping out, or how plans
of the cast can change our initial schedule.
Also, I learned a lot about how to use a camera and what shots I need to film when trying to make a
short film. I found that different angles can create a different effect. We used a lot of hand held
camera work in our film to make the audience feel involved and unsteady, this is seen when they are
walking up the stairs. I learnt that this is done often in horror films like The Blair Witch Project where
we see through the camera of the characters.
Finally I learned how to edit, editing is very hard to learn and do if never been taught it before and
this short film gave me the opportunity to learn how to edit and how I can improve my short film by
adding music to make the horror film scary, so this would have an impact on the audience. I knew
some basic tools with editing when I did my preliminary task which taught me the basic editing and
camera work. But when making my film but we used effects such as a red filter to our scenes to show
from the antagonist view. This wasn’t something we had done before so we looked it up on ‘effects’,
used ‘colour correction’ and made it red there and increased the opacity. I was happy with this look
as it made it clear to the audience that the POV shots of an antagonist.
The most challenging part of my short film was getting the crew and the actors to go to different
location at different times and making the times around them so we can film are short film. The main
reason why this was the most challenge because we had to get rid of one of the actors that we was
going to originally going to use in are short film, the reason why I couldn’t use the actor because the
times that we had set she couldn’t meet so we had to cast a new actor to fill her role and this took a
long time because we had to find an actor willing to go to different location and film at certain times,
this period took a long time because we was looking for a new actor and this took 2 weeks because I
contacted other actors to see if they could be in the short film. Finally, after this whole period we in
fact found a new actor to play one of the roles in my short film, this delayed so of the filming time
but because of some of the pre-production stuff helped us speed the process up of the production in
are short film.
The elements of my film that I would change is some of the story the reason for this is because I
would of added a car scene if the group getting to the house, because it would of made sense so the
audience understand how the group get too the house so the audience can get a sense of location
and how the group got to the house. Also I would of wanted the group to walk around the house for
longer with more shots around the house to show how big the setting was. I would of changed the
story to fit a conventional horror film where a girl dies first instead of a guy because in horror films
the girls normally die first because they are being either stupid or just have bad luck. If I could choose
anything to change about my short film it would be the camera the reason for this is because if we
had a better camera to use while filming are short film we would have had better scenes because the
camera that we used originally didn’t focus well because we used an iPhone 7 if we used a better
camera we could of made the short film a lot better because the shots would be 1080 p so the shots
and scenes would of looked better by the framework and the quality of shots that the Sony 3Z would
of picked up. If we did this the short film would be better because the audience would think that the
short film was smooth and looks like they were there first-hand.
The reason why the pre-production stage helped us with is short film because when it came to
filming we knew already what we wanted to achieve so when it came to the production of the film it
was quick and easy because we already had the idea in are head. The pre-production stage helped us
a lot in the production stage because when filming we used the storyboard to help us look at what
shots should be next and how we are going to film these shots, if we didn’t have the storyboard and
script with us when filming or if we didn’t make it at all in the pre-production stage we would be
blind going into the production stage because we would waste too much time trying to sorting
different scenes and shots out when filming, so making the storyboard really helped with the process
of the film. The production process was quick than expected, the reason for this was because we
planned that it only needed to take us about two weeks to film the short film at my house, as the
abounded house but because of the pre-production stage was so prepared, we were able to film the
film in a week.
Finally, another document that helped us while filming was the call sheet, the reason for this is
because when asking the actors to be ready and when we need to film certain scenes. This was
helpful as they knew where and when to be when we needed to film. We allowed some time before
the call time for those people that needed to be picked up and taken to my house. So, when it came
to filming we all knew the expectation of what was needed to be done in this so we were prepared
before and it informs the actors when they need to get ready to film and when they need to get to
the locations.
The next step after filming is editing the reason why because I need chop the clips up and removes
some of the clips from the film, so the film is smooth and clips dissolve into over ones. The main
reason why we had it edit the clips is so we can add music and other sounds to make the film scarier
and creepier. The reason for this is so the short film fits the horror genre and it can become a
conventional horror film. We used premiere pro to edit my short film, the reason for this is because
we edited are film at school, and the software is industry standard making the film 10 times better.
While we was in the editing stage we used conventional horror music to make the film fit the horror
genre, the reason why we did this is so because we make the film look more like a horror film, and
the conventional horror music slowly builds up to create tension and make the audience get scared
and prepared for a jump scare or a scene where the killer or antagonist comes out. We downloaded
the horror music from YouTube after researching many different soundtracks. We had a list of music
we short listed and as a group decided together. We chose one soundtrack overall and mainly used it
for the jump scares and when the characters were walking around the house to create tension. This
was used in many A.4 horror films such as ‘A Smiling Man’ when the balloon appears to the little girl.
Analysis of production
The challenges that we faced when in the production stage made the production of the film slower
than expected, the reason for this is because when in the filming stage of are short film are originally
actor dropped out, the reason for this is because she had to do other stuff and couldn’t help us act in
are short film. Therefore, it took longer than expected because we didn’t have a backup actor that
we should have had planned in the pre-production stage. If we would have had a backup actor, the
filming in the production stage would have been a lot quicker than we would have expected. Finally
the reason why we didn’t go behind schedule because when we was in the pre-production stage we
planned out how long we was going to take with a time schedule and we space3d it out because we
knew we would have had a unforeseen circumstance that would of delayed the film so in the time
line we spaced out just so we knew that we could be prepared and didn’t have to change the dates
around too much. Finally are last challenge that we had to face was that everyone works part-time so
we had to bend the timeline around that and set dates and times that when everyone including the
actors and crew could do and because there was lot of us we had to change the dates a to because
some people had work one day and the others had work the other. Also, when some actors weren’t
in the film, we would film without them. The reason for this is because we wanted to speed up the
time in between filming sessions, so this means we didn’t have to all the actors because they weren’t
in some of the shots or scenes.
The process that went well in the pre-production stage was the fact how we did loads of different
documents that helped us when filming. For example we made a storyboard, this storyboard gave us
an idea how the film would look, we did because we wanted to see a visual representation of how
are film looked and how we can change it to make the film better and any points of the film that we
could either include or changed when in the pre-productions stage. Another process that went well
was the fact that we used a risk assessment sheet, the reason why because I checked all of the
locations before we was filming there, and because we was filming at my house the abounded house
I had to check if there was any dangers in it because I didn’t want to put the actors and crew of a risk
off something happening to them. Also, with this I identified hazards that could occur when filming
and I tried to eliminate them or reduce the risk, while filming this risk would have happened but
because I removed it, it didn’t hurt or harm the actors or crew members. Finally the last processes
that went well in the pre-production stage was that I did a time schedule, the reason why this was
important and went well because the time schedule identified when I need to film and when I need
to finish what I was filming, because when it came to the production stage I knew what I was doing
on this day and when I had to finish because I had a deadline.
The most successful element of my short film was the location the reason why the location was the
best element because it made the short film more like a horror film. The reason why it is because the
house was bounded, and it fit the film well with the broken glass and all the abounded clothes and
items that was in the house so when was filming it looked scarier for the audience to see. Also, with
the location we changed some of the shots because when we were at location, we had the potential
to film different scenes and different shots so that are short film could be better. Also the reason why
the location was so successful because the location fits the genre, a conventional horror film is set in
an abounded house, with the killer being the home owner and the teenagers going around the
house seeing if anything happens to them it goes with the genre of a horror film. Finally, with the
location it fits the mood of the short film, with the group exploring an abounded house the house
must be abounded so that the audience don’t think it fake and are more engaged in the film.
If I could do the short film again, I would change the idea the reason why in would change the idea is
because the idea was clear but looking back at the short film the idea isn’t very clear on why the
group are going to the house. Also I would invest more time in the script the reason for this is
because I would of wanted the actor to say what the script said because sometimes we had to re film
a scene because the script wouldn’t match up what is happening in the shot or scene, so I would of
wanted to invest more time in to it because I would of wanted the script to fit with the story better
because the film would be more smooth and can engage the audience to the short film.
Also, I would have picked different actors the reason for this is because when filming we would mess
around and waste filming time, so we didn’t have to go back to my house as an abounded house all
the time to film shots and scene. Also, because all the actors are all good mates this made it
challenging to film because they would either make each other life when filming and this wasted
more time, so we had to go back to house than we anticipated because the actors was messing
around.
Also with the short film I would of wanted to add more lighting because when it came to the editing
side of the short film we had to add filters on the film that make the film look worse than it originally
did, the filters did help the short film look better because the audience could actually see what was
going on in the film. But I would have wanted better lighting, so we didn’t have to put filters on the
short filming because this took time. Also, I would have wanted to change where we edited are short
film the reason for this is because the macs and software that we used was there slow and was hard
to edit on, this wasted time when in the editing stage of are film. If we did this on our own mac
books at home or either invested in macs especially oft this short film the editing would have been
better and quicker because we would have had better software and better pc to use and this would
have made the short film look better because the editing would have been smoother. Also, when in
the editing stage I would have changed who edited the film because I would have wanted to edit the
film, but Zac wanted to because he didn’t do much in the production and pre-production stages of
the film. If I would have done the editing, I would have done a better job because I knew what clips
go where and where I could add music to make the film better and where I could really grab the
attention of the viewers watching the short film. The reason why this would have been different
because Zac didn’t know where to put the clips and what to do with the clips and Zac had to change
the way that the film planned out and changed the whole idea that we originally planned in the first
place.
Finally when it came to filming I would have wanted to add a car scene to the short film the reason
for this is because it doesn’t look clear how the group got to the abounded house, so I would of
wanted to film a scene where the group got to my house as the abounded house by sky driving
them, to the house, the reason why I wanted to add this is so that the audience would understand
how they got there and would have more context behind the film and so the film doesn’t look
rushed. Also I wish we had a better budget when it came to the short film, the reason for this is
because if we had a bigger budget to spend on the short film we could of used better props and
more props to make the film even more scarier and better than it already is, if we had a bigger
budget we could of used more equipment and props for filming, like the murderer has a proper suit
or the fits the narrative better. Also, if we had a better budget, I would have gone an brought a better
camera the reason for this is because we used a standard, I phone 7 that has alright quality but was
hard to stabilize while filming is short film. if we did have a better budget I would of got a Sony Z3
camera, this would have been a lot better to film on because the shots would be in a lot better
quality that makes the short film look better and when it came to editing we would have had to use
loads of stabilizing affects that helped us keep the short film look better, but if we filmed on a proper
camera we wouldn’t of had to use that, so this means that we didn’t have to use the stabilizes. Also if
we had more budget I would of liked to of purchased a new tripod, the reason for this is because
when filming we found it hard to hold the camera in are hands and make have the shots a steady as
we could, but if we had a large amount of money to use we could of brought a tripod that can help
us while filming we would have had better shots, this meant that I film would look better because
the shots are stable and look better. Also with the budget we could of brought a better software or
mac to use while in the editing the stage the reason why I would of dine this is because in the editing
staged we used macs at are school this meant we had to wait for people to finish using that specific
mac, we had are won mac we could of done this a lot quicker than it should have been because
when we was in the editing stage of are short film, we had to wait for people to finish on the mac so
that we could use it and finish editing are short film. If we had our own mac to use, we would have
edited the film a lot quicker this meant that we could have the film done quicker than we did. Also if
we used a different editing software to edit are short film are short film would have had better filters,
if are short film had better filters we could of made the film a lot more scarier by adding filters to the
shots it would of made the film look more creepy and scarier for the audience so that it would be a
better short film. Also if we used our own editing software we could of made the short film a lot
better by adding better audio clips over the short film, If we did this we could of built more tension
for the audience because we would of added conventional horror music, if did do this in are short
film, this would of made the film a lot better because it would off made the film more like a
conventional horror film.
