for the spring! When she’s not at work, April is super busy juggling a bunch of extracurriculars like
Tennis, Student Athlete Leadership Team, Student Council, and Link Crew. April is also very involved
in band and has been in 5 different music clubs including Percussion Ensemble and World Beat

Accounting 1, and Finance. Chris is planning on using these classes in addition to having work
experience to help him be a better contributor to Human Resources and the firm. Chris has worked
two jobs both in the field of sales and retail. Not only does Chris work, but he is also involved in the
club OLAS. With all the knowledge Chris has of business, he understands how companies are
managed and knows many keys to success. Chris believes his experience of working in a larger

interact and communicate with his peers around him. He is a very hard worker and will always be the
one to give advice if you are ever in need of help. He has learned three things from 4 years of high
school business knowledge; how to market and sell a product, how to give a sales strategy, and grab a
consumers attention. Austin is eager to bring these skills and lessons to this Human Resources
department in a way that will help the entire firm grow.

Department Tasks
April
Establishment of communication methods
Communication methods will include Remind mass texts, whole class GroupMe, and a complaint
inbox. Remind is a messaging system that will allow the chiefs to message the whole class. This will
be helpful for reminders and other important info that will go directly to each employees phone, this
is where many of our employees spend their time. The GroupMe is a group chat that includes the
whole class. GroupMe is a unique app which allows you to message any person you have ever been in
a group with. This establishes thorough interclass communication between any employee.
Employees can also send information or ask questions for the good of the class. Departments may
make their own individual ones as well. One other method of communication to be established will
be some sort of complaint/suggestion system. The plan is to do a google form where people can
submit feedback to be distributed to the departments as well as an inbox for paper submissions to
the class mailbox (see Bulletin Board Plan).

Bulletin board plan
The Bulletin Board will be updated at least monthly. Monthly changes will include seasonal
decorative changes, updating the Employee of the Month, and updating the calendar.

The Bulletin Board will have an accordion folder attached to it. This accordion will serve as the
mailbox to receive comments, concerns, nominations for any contest we may run, nominations for
the employee of the month, and anything else that may be relevant. This mailbox will be checked
every day by the chief of each department.

Another part of the Board will be the Employee of the Month. The picture of the Employee will be
framed on the wall for the month that they reign with a smaller line of pictures for previous
recipients.

The Board will also have a firm calendar. Each month will have its own calendar with events relevant
to the whole firm. Due dates, payroll, trade shows, team builders, parties, and any other inclusive
events will be listed to ensure everyone is aware and can adjust their own departmental calendars
accordingly.

To boost morale and keep atmosphere light there will be some less formal additions to the board. An
inspirational mirror, a meme or quote of the week, a bell to ring for when sales are made, or
potentially a star chart are some of the ideas to be implemented on this board.

Establishing Conflict Resolution Policies

Conflict resolution will be handled in two steps. The first will be the formal complaint. This was briefly
mentioned in both the bulletin board plan as well as the communication methods. An established
form will be the initial method for a complaint submitted to the department you will handle it. The

next step will be a One-Up review system where the department chief will address both sides of the

chief and executive then the CEO will be the One-Up.

conflict and either explain each side to each or mediate a discussion. If an issue arises between the

SWOT Analysis

Strengths: Each of us brings our own unique energy while still being positive. Ben will be a good mood
boost and will keep everyone centered because he is typically more laid back on average than other
members. We also have great assets with Austin and Chris because they both have managerial
experience which will help be authoritative with the class and keeping things controlled. That being
said, along with our enthusiastic, and very well organized CAO April Kochman, we can be a solid
foundation for this company.

Weaknesses: As a group, we tend to get off task and talk about things that are not related to business
but with April as our chief, she has and continued to keep us on the right track. We are also at a risk
internally with our lack of knowledge with this department specifically. None of us have worked in a
designated Human Resources department before nor have we been in VEI.

Opportunities: Since no one in this firm has ever run a Human Resources department for a virtual
class, we can build this department the way we want. We also have so many resources available in all
of the other VEI firms in the nation.

Threats: There are so many HR departments out there it may be hard for us to differentiate ourselves
as different from the other ones. It is hard to beat out other human resources departments because
none of us have had specific training for working in such a department where other school may offer
something like that.
