My beginning senior year was at Yosemite High School, which isn't necessarily a

good sign or start but the classic saying of don't judge a book by its cover couldn't be

more relevant. A continuation school with an extremely close and condensed

community offered a lot of extracurricular classes and programs. I came here because

of the number of credits I had at Merced High, at first the goal was pretty easy and just

work but through an embarrassing amount of classes I had failed I soon realized that

my only option to go back home, to go back to my friends, to go back to Merced high

was to work nonstop. I had to take an online course in order to accumulate the years of

failed courses an passed them within a couple of months. What was so difficult about

this was having my goal set on going back to Merced high, turning a new leaf and

through all the time of being at Yosemite I didn't want to leave. I had grown close to my

classmates and teachers, understanding that all my routines of seeing my friends in the

same places in the exact same times every day would be gone was really hard to

accept. Understanding that coming back to Merced high was truly one of the biggest

mistakes I made will remind me to have patience and to not take anything for granted.

With this lesson, I returned to Merced High with so many extra classes completed than

originally planned that I now only have four classes, start at nine am and leave before

one pm. The life-changing transition from school to school allowed me the opportunity to

successfully apply for employment at a fast food restaurant. I’m grateful for all the

friends, time, and experience I endured throughout the years.
