PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Hello, Neighbors,
Here we are in May already, having had our April General Meeting with a great
turnout of residents. Thank you all for coming. It was one of the larger assem-
blies of residents in a long time.
Not a whole lot of new projects to count on. We are still trying to get a metal
contractor to redo our mail stations, as this is getting more difficult than it
should be. We have a problem brewing down at the Park. Lily pads are sprouting
up all over the entire pond. If we don’t control this it will soon spread and take
over the entire pond. We will be having a resident who has helped us in the past Meet
by building the duck shelter help us again to remove this vegetation so that it Ellie
does not get out of control.

I would like to remind everyone that the park is closed from dusk until dawn It
seems like some of the residents don’t abide by this posted rule and are heard in
the park by members that live around the park. The Sheriff has jurisdiction to
reprimand any trespassers and rule breakers from our Park. If you see anyone in
the park after dark, call the Sheriff immediately: (352)754-6830.
The houses for sale have been flying off the shelf as of late which is great for all
homeowners in River Country. This is a strong indication that we live in a great
neighborhood with increasing values. That benefits all property owners in River
Country.

TREASURER’S
REPORT

We need new board members. In the near future we have sever-
al board members that will leave the board for various reasons.
We need residents to step up and become board members. Some
on the board, like me, have been on the board for more than ten
years. When I accepted the position of Treasurer I didn’t believe
it would become a life sentence.
This is your development. It is not the board’s development or
any one individual’s development. You, the residents make the
rules, the board does not. I believe it is necessary to have new
people on the board for fresh ideas and to meet the demands of
a changing population within River Country. At the October
meeting I plan to introduce a proposal that limits a board mem-
bers term to no more than six years. Please consider running for
a board seat. The outlay in time is marginal. The benefit to the
community is immeasurable .
My second point is now that the warm weather is upon us we all
will be indulging in outdoor activities. It is the season of barbe-
ques, pool parties, and birthday celebrations. Please be consid-
erate of your neighbors and keep the noise to manageable levels.
Your taste in music does not have to be shared with all the sur-
rounding homes. Other families are enjoying their backyards
the same as you and should not be subjected to blaring compet-
ing music. Confine your activities to your own home as you
would expect others to do the same.

CRIME WATCH

Hello, fellow residents of River Country. Let’s talk about
Neighborhood Safety and Security. Have you ever wondered
how safe is our neighborhood? Ever wondered what’s going
on around the block? Have you been out and friends ask
about the felony bust by you and yet you never heard any-
thing? Do you ask fellow neighbors and their reply is, “Yeah,
I heard something about that?” As I read the Crime Watch
Report by Mike Lutman I commend him and his staff for
their diligence and commitment in wanting a safer place for
all the residents of River Country. Mike is always advising us
to keep our vehicles locked and commits to keep us advised
as best as possible to current crimes.
So, how do you find out about crimes around your house?
With a little bit of research I was able to educate myself and
know exactly what is going on in River Country and you can,
too! I’ve learned about local Domestic Violence arrests, lar-
cenies, accidents, drug arrests and even predators! It was
simple:
Go to Hernandosherifforg and click on Citizen Resources
on the top bar. From there you can look up in Record
Search any arrests, crime reports or even crime mapping.
Or, go to Public Alerts and see the neighborhood’s Most
Wanted or local sexual predators. You will be prompted to
type in your address; then hit Search. You can also have
email alerts sent to you through crime mapping so you can
be advised of any new crimes around the neighborhood.
Now when I’m asked about things going on around my
house I’m very well advised.
Remember...We all want a safe neighborhood. So if some-
thing seems suspicious or illegal, give the Sheriff a call

RIVER COUNTRY SAYS 'YES'
TO WIRELESS INTERNET

It has been a year since we discussed working with
Clearstream to install a communications tower in our park.
After a great deal of work with the county it is our hope that
we will be receiving a permit soon and be able to move for-
ward with the project. As such a long period of time has
passed since this was discussed I thought it might be helpful
to republish the article from the May-June 2018 Courier
pertaining to the Clearstream tower. Please note, that while
the pricing for Clearstream's receiver and internet service
remain the same, the prices for other services mentioned
below have most likely changed:
Courier, May-June 2018:
At our general meeting on April 10th, 2018 I discussed the
possibility of working with local business Clearstream to
install a freestanding tower in the woods near the pavilion in
our park. The purpose of the tower would be to provide
another internet service provider option to the residents of
River Country. I came across this company while researching
options to install wireless cameras in our park to help con-
trol the vandalism and loitering that happens during the
hours in which the park is closed. Clearstream has agreed to
install this tower along with two motion activated cameras at
no cost to River Country. In addition, the residents of River
Country would receive a 20 percent discount on Clearstream
Internet Service. There is absolutely no obligation for River
Country residents to use this service and our initial contract
for tower land usage is only one year. This will allow us to
assess the relative merits of the service without any financial
burden. Clearstream has provided some details about the
tower, contract and internet service below.
I have created a temporary email account at
carpenter.marc.clearstream@gmail.com in order to address
any questions or concerns. I will do my best to respond as
quickly as possible.
• Tower installation & permitting- We will provide the tower
and own it. It will be a collaborative effort regarding permit-
ting as River Country owns the land. We will pay for permit-
ting, assuming Hernando County doesn't give us any major
or drastic lot location upgrades or changes.
• We will provide, free of charge, the 1-2 cameras and DVR
requested. Will install and setup free of charge.
The tower will be a 100 foot free standing tower with our
radios and antennas on it.
• The initial term can be a one year trial period. In the event
the association is not satisfied with the service, the tower
would be taken down and moved to a new location of ours.
• We would ask for a period of six months to a year for dis-
connection of services, tower disassembly, and tower reloca-
tion as it is a big task to accomplish.

• The initial one year term can be converted at any time into
a five year term, renewable five times.
Free installation- Tech will install and help setup computers
and passwords, etc.
• Customer buys and owns their equipment. Receivers that
receive the internet signal are priced as follows: small receiv-
er- $64.99, med receiver- $129.99, Lg receiver- $129.99. Most
customers will likely have the small receiver. In some cases,
trees or obstructions that block the signal may need one of
the bigger receivers. Every customer will be a case by case
basis. The majority of our customers have the small receiver.
The receiver is affixed to the house. For scale, the small
receiver fits in the palm of your hand.
• The customer will need to supply a wireless router if they
want wifi. We do offer a fast wireless router that offers hard-
wire connections as well. The price for one is $79.99. These
work really well and are fast. The quality of a wireless router
could impact speeds.
• There are three plans: 50/25- $39.95 (RC price $31.96),
100/50- $49.95 (RC price $39.96), 200/100- $64.95 (RC price
$51.96). These River Country Community prices will not be
offered to family or friends outside of River Country or to the
general public.
• Currently, we do not offer a triple play service consisting of
phone, internet and TV programming. We do offer solutions
for free VOIP phone service via Ooma Telo. It's a $99 VOIP
unit that can be purchased at Best Buy or online Once a cus-
tomer signs up for Ooma Telo Service they only pay state and
local taxes. No phone bill. The service works with fax
machines. Ooma Telo is a more traditional way to have
phone service versus something like Magic Jack We also offer
TV over internet solutions via DirecTV Now, SlingTV, HULU,
PS Vue, etc. We explain and show customers the various
options, walk them through and help setup those types of
services. We do not make any money off the phone or TV over
the internet services. We simply show them that there are
other money saving options.
For example, a customer that decides to switch services and
get our base internet service, VOIP phone, and SlingTV serv-
ice could pay as little as $31.96/mo for internet, $20/mo for
SlingTV, and $4.67 for phone service from Ooma. That comes
to a total of $56.63 plus any taxes (Ooma service you only pay
tax of $4.67). AT&T cellular customers get a discount if they
sign up for a DirecTV Now plan.
• All payments are done online. We do not send out paper
bills. This is another tool for us to keep costs down.
• A customer can change their plan at anytime and the sys-
tem will automatically prorate it on their bill.
• Customers can currently go to our website to see some
basic information about the company and a few pictures &
descriptions of the equipment used. The website is currently
getting a pretty sizable makeover so there is limited func-
tionality for now. The website address is

• No contracts, no commitments.

Cook’s Corner
A Delicious
Mother’s Day Treat
Eileen's Cream Cheese
Cookies by Eileen Bernard
Ingredients
One 8-ounce package cream cheese
Two sticks butter
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 1/4 cups flour
Cinnamon Sugar and extra flour for dusting
1 cup 10X confectioners sugar
Raspberry jam

1) Leave out cream cheese and butter until they soften.

2) With mixer, cream them together, adding 1/4 cup granulat-
ed sugar.
3) Slowly add 2 1/4 cups of flour and mix on slow until it forms
a large ball.
4) On a piece of Saran Wrap, sprinkle cinnamon sugar and
flour. Place dough and pat into a large square.
5) On a pastry or cutting board lightly dusted with cinnamon
sugar and flour, roll out dough one third at a time.
6) Slice diagonally and across.
7) Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes or until lightly
brown.
8) Place on wire rack and cool. Sprinkle with 10X confection-
ers sugar. I use raspberry jam to make sandwich cookies.
