Pride Essay

One accomplishment that meant very much too me was that I volunteered at Mercy

Hospital for one-hundred and thirty-four hours and more. I started to volunteer at the hospital in

April of 2018 in my Junior year and continued until April 24, 2019 of my Senior. My certificate

only says that I had volunteered for one-hundred and thirty-four hours but, I actually have

two-hundred and seven hours at the hospital. The certificate was counted from the April of 2018

to December of 2019 which only indicate that I have one-hundred and thirty-four hours instead

of two-hundred and seven hours. The award represented a big purpose. It was significance that I

had volunteered at the hospital because I learned responsibility, respect, skills, teamwork, and

professionalism. My original volunteer day was Sunday mornings but, I changed to Wednesdays

afternoons because I had work on the weekends. I volunteer for four hours each day. I work at

the lobby desk in the hospital. My job is to provide information for the visitors and to secure that

each person is safe to go up to the floors. As a result, when a visitor don’t know the patient's

room number but know their name, we tend to provide the information to the visitors. Each

visitor that comes into our hospital without a badge needs a wristband in order to go up to the

floors and rooms of patients. Wristbands are required for every adult to wear for safety purpose

of the patients. Jobs for our volunteer include to answer phone calls from floors, discharge

patients, help staff members at the hospital, provide information to visitors, and help nurses. The

accomplishment of volunteering at the hospital was important because we had to be on-time and

on duty for the whole entire shift. I need take responsibility of doing discharges, answering the

phone, providing information, helping the nurse and overall being respectful to every visitors

that comes into the hospital. I think volunteering at the hospital is one of the most successful

accomplishment out of my high school year.
