Entrance:

Welcome (Read by the School Principal): Good morning and welcome everyone to the
Immaculate Conception to celebrate these candidate’s First Holy Communion. It is great to see
so many people here to support these candidates. The teachers and families have been busy
preparing the candidates over the last month. They have been learning about how through the
Eucharist Jesus comes to live in them and helps them to live out his message. Would you please
stand for the entrance procession.

Procession:
The students are to process in pairs with each child carrying a candle which will be placed in
front of the altar.
A banner reading “Come to the Table” and the Last Supper stain glass windows which the
students made will be hung on the wall behind the altar. On the side walls will be a picture of
each child and their response to what receiving the Eucharist means to them.
The acolyte will be burning incense during the procession.

Song: ‘God Delights in You’ by M Brown.

VERSE 1
Calling every daughter
Calling every son
All who’ve been adopted
Through a sacrifice of love
There’s no need for you to fear
Your debts have all been cleared

VERSE 2
Calling all the downcast
Who feel like they’re alone
Anyone who’s longing
For a family of their own
God’s prepared a place for you
He’s calling you to

CHORUS
Come and sing, come and dance
The Father’s singing over you
Come rejoice and be glad
For God delights in you, in you

VERSE 3
Calling all who’ve wandered
Gone off on their own
Anyone who wonders
If they’re welcome back at home

2
The God of grace makes all things new
He’s calling you to

BRIDGE
You chose us to be the objects of Your love
In spite of all we have done
You gave Your beloved Son to die for us
To make us daughters and sons

Liturgy of the Word

First Reading (Read by a student receiving the Eucharist)

Proverbs 9:1-6 (An invitation to the Table of the Lord).

A reading from the book of Proverbs.

Wisdom has built her house and made seven columns for it. She has sent her servant girls to
call out from the highest place in town: “Come in, ignorant people!” And to the foolish man
she says, “Come, eat my food and drink the wine I have mixed. Leave the company of the
ignorant people, and live. Follow the way of knowledge.”

The word of the Lord.

Responsorial Psalm (Read by four students receiving the Eucharist)

4
Response: The Lord gave them bread from heaven.

I will always thank the Lord;

I will never stop praising him. Response.

I will praise him for what he has done;

May all who are oppressed listen and be glad! R.

Proclaim with me the lord’s greatness;

Let us praise his name together! R.

I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me;

He freed me from all my fears. R.

Second Reading (Read by a student receiving the Eucharist)

Revelation 7:9, 14b-17

A reading from the book of Revelation.

After this I saw a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and tribes, and
peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne, and in sight of the Lamb, clothed with
white robes, and palms in their hands:

And I said to him: My Lord, thou knowest. And he said to me: These are they who are come
out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and have made them white in the blood
of the Lamb.

Therefore, they are before the throne of God, and they serve him day and night in his temple:
and he, that sitteth on the throne, shall dwell over them.

They shall no more hunger nor thirst, neither shall the sun fall on them, nor any heat.

For the Lamb, which is in the midst of the throne, shall rule them, and shall lead them to the
fountains of the waters of life, and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

Gospel Acclamation:

Alleluia, alleluia!
Jesus sat down with them at table.
Alleluia!

Gospel:
Mark 14:22-26 (The Last Supper).

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark.

5
While they were eating, Jesus took a piece of bread, gave a prayer of thanks, he broke it, and
gave it to his disciples. “Take it,” he said, “this is my body.”

Then he took the cup, gave thanks to God, and handed it to them, and they all drank from it.
Jesus said, “This is my blood which is poured out for many, my blood which seals God’s
covenant. I tell you; I will never again drink this wine until the day I drink the new wine in
the Kingdom of God.”

Then they sand a hymn and went out to the Mount of Loves.

The Gospel of the Lord.

Liturgy of the Eucharist

Preparation of the Gifts:
- Procession gifts: giant host, wine, white altar cloth. Four students are to lay the
clothes on the altar.

Song: Bates, K. (1986). ‘Take and Eat’

I am the Word that spoke and light was made;

I am the seed that died to be re-born;
I am the bread that comes from heaven above;
I am the vine that fills your cup with joy.

Take and eat; take and eat:

this is my body given up for you.
Take and drink; take and drink:
this is my blood given up for you

I am the way that leads the exile home;

I am the truth that sets the captive free;
I am the life that raises up the dead;
I am your peace, true peace my gift to you.

Take and eat; take and eat:

this is my body given up for you.
Take and drink; take and drink:
this is my blood given up for you

I am the Lamb that takes away your sin;

I am the gate that guards you night and day;
You are my flock; you know the shepherd's voice;
You are my own; your ransom is my blood.

Take and eat; take and eat:

this is my body given up for you.
Take and drink; take and drink:
this is my blood given up for you

Song: ‘We are Delightful’ from Let the Children Come by M Brown.

We delight in the law of your word

We delight in the son who was perfect from birth
We delight in the day He's returning to earth, Hallelujah

We will bow our hearts because we are free

As we raise our hands to give You glory
Father of life and love and infinite worth
We're delivered by blood that flows from the tree
Draws near to You vessels of Your mercy
Before the invention of man, the glorious trinity

We delight in the law of Your word

We delight in the son who was perfect from birth
We delight in the day He's returning to earth, Hallelujah, Hallelujah

We will lift our eyes to the cloud and the flame

Lord, You guide our steps and restore us again
The nations of man will rejoice in the God of the wilderness

We delight in the law of your word

We delight in the son who was perfect from birth
We delight in the day He's returning to earth, Hallelujah, Hallelujah

We delight in the law of your word

We delight in the son who was perfect from birth
We delight in the day He's returning to earth, Hallelujah

We delight in the law of your word

We delight in the son who was perfect from birth

11
We delight in the day He's returning to earth, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah
