If the boot cannot be moved back, cut it using an appropriate tool and remove it.
1. Clean the driveshaft constant velocity joint until the safety ring is accessible.
2. Extract the wheel side constant velocity joint from the driveshaft.
NOTE: On joints without a safety ring, remove the constant velocity joint from the
driveshaft by force.
On joints without a safety ring, the ring is positioned on the driveshaft and must
therefore be removed from this position.
Refitting ( Removing )
- Wash the constant velocity joint components thoroughly using diesel oil or petrol and
visually inspect that there are no signs of seizing or grooves on the balls or seats.
1. Place a new safety ring in the housing on the constant velocity joint.
For joints without a safety ring, fit a new safety ring on the driveshaft.
- Place the wheel side constant velocity join in its housing on the driveshaft.
Push the constant velocity joint until the safety ring is correctly positioned.
- Fill the joint and the boot with the specified grease.
