Course Introduction
This course is about the study of different mechanisms and their applications based on principles of Kinematics and Dynamics of
machinery. Course covers Linkage Mechanisms, Power Transmission Mechanisms and Control and Precision Mechanisms which are
important aspects for undergraduates of Mechanical Engineering
Course Contents
Fundamentals of Machine Kinematics and Dynamics. Simple mechanism, Linkages: synthesis and analysis, position,
velocity and acceleration analysis, governors, gyroscope, geometry of gears, gear trains, flywheels, cam and follower
design and dynamics, steering gears, balancing of linkages and rotating bodies.
Administrative Instruction
According to institute policy, 80% attendance is mandatory to appear in the final examination.
Assignments must be submitted as per instructions mentioned in the assignments.
In any case, there will be no retake of (scheduled/surprise) quizzes.

Computer Usage
Students are encouraged to solve and plot related course problems using MATLAB.
Software MSC ADAMS will be used to study the course.
