    2.​ Objectives​:
    1. children are to describe what is a poem using one classroom item
    2. share what they find is a poem and reply to a peers finding

    3. Materials/Equipment: ​book ​Daniel Finds A Poem​, notebooks, pencils,

    4. ​Teaching​:
    A. Reading the book
    B. E​xtension activity: ​Once the book is read I will discuss to children what they liked
    about the book. After discussing the book children are to find an object of their choice in the
    room and see if they can describe it and create their own poem. I will explain that once they find
    their poem they will share with a partner just like the animals in the book shared their idea with
    Daniel. The children overall will not have a guideline to follow which will allow more freedom
    to write and in other words create a free verse poem.

    5. Closure: ​Once children share their poem amount a peer I would like to close
    off the activity by asking if anyone had the same poem? If I get the no one one had
    the same poem I will go on to explain that poetry is all around us and we all have
    different thoughts and ideas which is why we may not find the same poem with
    other people.
