In the video , Mike Clough says that “modeling effective
teaching” is imperative , crucial to have an effective
teaching in class , the teacher makes them work in groups
of two giving them a whiteboard to write down all the
things that they think about the act of teaching, making
the students commit themselves mentally, having those
white cards can write their views so everyone participates,
and also help To know the teacher what his students
think, Mike Clough believes that it is a way that everyone
commits. On the other hand the teacher can approach
each student to correct if there are wrong ideas. Clough
says that an effective teaching requires a lot of effort, he
always encourages asking certain kind of questions to the
students, not yes/no questions . Certain kind of questions
is called thought-provoking quuestions too , another
tecnique that he uses is called wait time , he asks a
question and waits expectantly the answer of his students
so he has more time to thinkg in a second question or get
more ideas , using nonverbals behaviors too with his
hands for instance . The advice is don’t stop using wait
time and learn to wait a Little longer to get great
responses that will really make you think .
Clough says that some people think that teaching is fairly
easy having examples at the schools when they were
teenagers , examples like one teacher wanted students
‘ideas even if they were wrong or criticize their ideas
making the student may not respond in the future
.Therefore , teaching is extremely complex because
requires time to do well and engage the learner mentally
and find out what he or she is thinking
