Five Year Plan

Five years after high school is a long time, plans will change, people will change, no one

will be the same. Within the next five years of my life, I hope to become a better person, a more

responsible, trustworthy, hard working person. Here is how I plan to become that person.

In the next have a decade, I would like to attend Merced College, join the military, have a

steady relationship with my family, and become a certified mechanic. I would like to attend

Merced College so that I may participate in Water Polo and or Swimming. I have decided to

pursue a small future in aquatics so I may “test the waters” in competing at such a high level,

such as the collegiate level. I have never competed at a high intensity level and I believe it would

be very fun to attempt it.

I would like to pursue a future in the military because I have been taught a lot of my life

that college degrees don’t always help you in the future, I would love to attend college for a

small portion of my life but I believe that the military is a better option in the long run. The

military provides so many career and certification pathways, alongside a very highly appreciated

educational system.

Obtaining my Automotive Mechanic certification falls alongside the military, joining the

military would provide so many benefits, dental, vision, health insurance. And they also provide

educational programs in which anyone can pursue a certification, or degree with, at no expense

to you. In the military, I plan to pursue a career in automotive/ diesel engineering. A lot of

military equipment, are huge and too excessive to run on electricity, and instead rely on internal

combustion engines to operate. I have not decided on a branch of the military yet, as each has a

lot of different career options to choose from, and although they all offer the same basic careers
and despite them being identical for the most part, deciding what branch you want to serve under

is a big decision. I want to serve my country in the branch where i believe I can make more of a

difference in than any other.

Maintaining a steady relationship with my family would most likely be one of the more

difficult tasks of being in the military. One reason I have prolonged my enlistment until the end

of my first year of college is because I feel like throughout my senior year, I have not lived the

full experience of being in a loving family, I have taken advantage of my families love and

care for too long, and now I am taking advantage of the opportunities given to me and I am

going to stay a bit longer so that I may spend the time needed with my family before I leave for

4-6 years.
