Abstract

Corrosion of reinforcing steel is now commonly found in

reinforced concrete structures. One thing that cause the corrosion
is environmental influences. Corrosion in reinforcing steel can
cause reduction in the strength of the structure, so that if this
continues the damage will result the concrete buildings became
unfit for use. Based of this reality, an engineer is expected to do
routine evaluations to the structure which damage from
corrosion. One way that can be used is the application of the
finite element method. In this final project will discuss modeling
of corrosion of reinforcing steel in reinforced concrete beams for
flexural strength using finite element method-based software
program LUSAS. Modeling will be done by creating a model of
the behavior of reinforced concrete beams with corrode
reinforcing steel with time-based. Corrosion rate factors greatly
influence the behavior of reinforced concrete beam, in the
modeling process of Cl-ions can penetrate the protective passive
and reduce the area of reinforcement. With this study will be
obtained sufficient information on the effect of corrosion of
