Test tube baby is a term that refers to a child that is conceived outside the mother,s body by

a scientific process known as In-Vitro fertilization or IVF treatment. This entire process is
done in a laboratory. In this process the eggs are taken from the mother's ovary and
fertilized by the sperms from the father.

There is no difference between IVF and test tube baby. ... IVF involves fertilizing an egg
outside of the womb and re-implanting the embryo. Test Tube Baby: It refers
a child conceive in the test tube. In fact, the father sperms and the mother or donor eggs
are combined and kept to fertilized in a test tube.

However, if natural or unassisted conception is not possible, fertility treatment is an option.

IVF has been used since the late 1970s. On 25 July 1978, the first "test-tube baby,"
Louise Brown, was born. Robert Edwards and Patrick Steptoe, who collaborated on the
procedure, are considered to be the pioneers of IVF.Feb 5, 2018

the Nobel Prize for medicine on Monday, the awards committee announced

Yes, test tube babies do have a belly button. The only difference between a test tube
baby and a normally implanted baby is that the fertilization of egg and sperm happens
outside the female body, not through sex but in a test tube. The fertilized cell is implanted
back into the woman's uterus.

While younger women have higher chances of IVF success, factors that reduce the chances
of IVF success include being an older womanwith fewer eggs and the lower quality of an
older woman's eggs. In fact, the live birth IVF success rate for women under 35 who start an
IVF cycle is 40 percent.
In India the success rate of IVF using donor egg is approx. 45-50% but the rates are even
higher if we talk about good fertility clinics to be around 65-70%.

Both Dr Mukhopadhyay and British scientists Robert G Edwards and Patrick Steptoe —
creators of the world's first test-tube baby — started work at the same time. The Indian baby
was born on October 3, 1978, just 67 days after Marie Louise Brown was born.

n-vitro fertilization or IVF is also named as the Test Tube Baby . Today it has become a
renowned treatment for helping couples who are unable to conceive ababy . A test-tube
baby develops from an egg which has been removed from the mother's body met with
sperm in the lab and gain send it to woman's womb.

Since 1978, over 8 Million babies have been born through IVF. Since 1978, over 8 Million
babies have been born through IVF.

There are many difference between test tube baby and surrogacy. In test tube baby, the
egg is fertilized in a Petri dish and then placed into the mother. IVF is the process of
fertilizing the egg. However, surrogacy is basically who will carry thechild and give birth to
it.

If IVF is performed to treat infertility, you and your partner might be able to try less invasive
treatment options before attempting IVF, including fertility drugs to increase production of
eggs or intrauterine insemination — a procedure in which sperm are placed directly in your
uterus near the time of ovulation.

IVF is a safe and effective treatment for infertility. IVF has very low risks to the patient. ...
There has been no proof that IVF or the medications used in IVF lead to an increased risk of
ovarian or breast cancers. Babies born from IVF have the same low rate of birth defects as
babies born from a natural conception.

Dr. Subhash Mukhopadhyay(Mukherjee) created history when he became the first

physician in India (and second in the world after British physicians Patrick
Steptoeand Robert Edwards) to perform the In vitro fertilization resulting in a test tube baby
“Durga” (Kanupriya Agarwal)
During these two weeks, your ovaries will be stimulated to produce follicles, ovulation will
occur and thereafter an insemination is performed. In vitro fertilization (IVF), takes a bit
longer, lasting anywhere from 4-6 weeks prior to egg retrieval. The embryos are then
transferred anywhere from 3-5 days later.

Both are the same process. IVF: IVF stands for In Vitro Fertilization which is common
infertility treatment. ... The same thing happens in IVF Center in Ahmedabad . A test tube
baby gets its roots from the fact that sperms and the eggs are combined and kept to form an
embryo (fertilized) in a test tube.

Step-by-Step Descriptions of the IVF Procedures

 Step 1: Control Ovarian Hyperstimulation (COH) ...
 Step 2: Egg Retrieval. ...
 Step 3: Fertilization and Embryo Culture. ...
 Step 4: Embryo Quality. ...
 Step 5: Embryo Transfer. ...
 Laser Assisted Hatching. ...
 Cryopreservation.

In artificial insemination, the conception happens by placing only the sperm in theuterus
whereas in IVF eggs and sperms are fused outside the body. The embryo is formed in
a highly equipped laboratory and then the embryo is placed in the uterus. ... Artificial
insemination is less invasive and less expensive than IVF.

The term "In Vitro Fertilization" is derived from the Latin words "In Vitro" and the English word
"Fertilization". In vitro fertilization is the scientific practice of fusing the male and
female gametesto form a zygote. Therefore, the term refers to the medical practice of fusing the
male sperm and female ova in a controlled environment such as a petri dish, test tube or a
laboratory beaker. However, advances in technology have made it easier to use the petri dishes.

In Vivo Fertilization is the antonym of the term as it is performed by introducing a sperm cell
directly to the egg in the uterus.
In a broader sense, the IVF is a form of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) for individuals
grappling with infertility. The first step is to extract the ova from the ovaries which are done
using the transvaginal oocyte retrieval method. On the male perspective, semen is extracted in
three ways. Firstly, there is the ejaculation through self-stimulation that is effortless for most men.
This can be done at home under hygiene conditions. The semen is then deposited directly to a
sterilized container. Secondly, there is the Testicular Sperm Extraction method (TESA). This is
for men whose semen contain extreme low spermatozoa. Lastly, there is sperm donation
method. The semen is usually obtained on the same day as the harvesting of ova.[5]
The IVF biological procedure is more than just the collection of sperms and ova. The first process
is to stimulate the ovaries to release the eggs to the follicles. This process is however not
necessary in selected cases as the woman can be in the ideal period. In this case, minimal
stimulation is undertaken. Secondly, the embryologist assesses the status of the egg. This
practice is followed by incubation to keep the egg alive. Meanwhile, the semen is sorted to
retrieve healthy sperms. Thirdly, the IVF process entails controlling of the environment in which
the specimens are kept to encourage growth, development, and maturity.[6]
The IVF procedure also involves the scientific process of embryo culture. In this stage, the sperm
is introduced to the egg and fertilization occurs in the culture dish. The duration can range from
two to five days. Lastly, the embryo is implanted into the uterus.[7]
The IVF administration is painless and no sedatives are required. The ultimate success of the
ART is dependent on the good quality of sperm and ova, medical condition of donors, and the
health status of both the male and female patients.

Ovarian stimulation is the second stage of IVF fertility treatment. The goal is to harvest as
many mature eggs as possible from the woman's ovaries. Harvesting many eggs maximizes
the chances one of the eggs can be fertilized, implanted back into the uterus, and become a
healthy baby.

In an IVF cycle, the goal is to have several eggs mature, as this will increase your chances
of success with treatment. In the ovarian stimulation phase of the IVF cycle, injectable
medications are used for approximately 8 to 14 days to stimulate follicular development.

Gonadotropins: Luteinizing and Follicle Stimulating Hormones. Luteinizing hormone (LH)

and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) are called gonadotropins because stimulate the
gonads - in males, the testes, and in females, the ovaries. They are not necessary for life,
but are essential for reproduction.
