Transformer Life Expectancy

• Real time comparison of calculated winding (what it Temperature Dictates Aging
should be) and direct winding (what it really is)
temperatures to automatically alarm on potential problems
• Maximize cooling efficiency with more accurate hot spot
temperature measurement
• Safely optimize loading without compromising
transformer life (actual winding temp)
• Avoid emergency shutdowns by monitoring long-term,
gradual transformer deterioration

LTC Monitoring

Tracks parameters of a load tap system to alert

potential issues:
• Monitors tap position, tap counts, make and break
currents, motor actuations, and motor currents
• Monitors the differential temperature of the tap
changer with respect to the main tank
• Two alarm priorities to signal if any or all
parameters exceed selected set points
• Provides alarms for excessive actuations or total
run time

QUALITROL Advantage
• Alert of incorrect loading and multiple tap counts signifying incorrect operation
• Detect coking of the tap contacts based on differential temperature (main tank vs. LTC tank)
• Alerts for prompting maintenance based on run time and excessive actuations

Qualitrol Transformer Monitoring System

Cooling Monitoring

Tracks all transformer cooling system

parameters to alert potential problems:
• Monitors inrush and steady-state current of the fan
banks and pump motors
• Measures differential temperature between sides of
the cooling radiators to determine cooling system
efficiency
• Monitors oil flow through the cooling system
• Can alarm on excessive actuations or total run
time, key indicators for preventive maintenance

QUALITROL Advantage
• Detect damaged fan or pump motors, cooling system efficiency losses and blocked cooling lines
• Prior to experiencing dangerous temperature levels, replace or repair key cooling system parts based
on predictive maintenance alarms
